    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

It's long time since this last happened, so had forgotten the only way to make 5G radio to come back is to flash an Asus official firmware, then clear nvram && mtd-erase -d nvram , then poweroff, then flash Merlin fw.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.56_2 is now available

AC66: coming from 378.55, 378.56_2 killed my 5G wifi. Reset. Turn 5G radio off/on. Reload older settings. Many resets. Nothing helps. Moved back to 378.55, 5G radio's not coming back. Seems it's a full factory reset and reconfigure boot camp again. *sigh* At first there is no 5G channel at...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

Still running into issues with running rsync jobs, almost always at the start of the job when it starts crawling through the directory tree. While testing, there's no other resource intensive programs running like Transmission or minidlna. Studying /proc/meminfo while the process was running...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Now this is a case for some serious wtf: every time i turn on an 6in4 tunnel (he.net) on AC66 & your fork (or any 374.43 fw for that matter) my ctf goes off, as reported by Tools>Sysinfo.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

But this turns ctf off and limits the router to 150-200 mbps performance? Even before you run anything else on it...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

Turns out the real issue is default setting for /proc/sys/vm/overcommit_memory = 2, meaning never overcommit memory. Changing this to 1 by echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/overcommit_memory lets swap work. 1GB is not too much, since even mkfs.ext3 for a large filesystem (tb's) will need at least 400MB...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Tested 378.53 for ipv6 tunnel support (with he.net), works well there and ctf stays on. Wish you could incorporate ipv6 from there to your fork, because this fork practically cannot be used with an ipv6 tunnel.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

OOM-KILLER makes it sure i can't do anything on my router anymore. Only 1 GB of free swap left (file, not a partition) and it kills whatever process is using memory... Can't run rsync anymore, or anything that uses a lot of ram. Renders the router pretty useless. May 2 11:41:58 kernel: printk...

    Asuswrt-Merlin 378.53 is now available

AC66 5G weirdness: can't connect to 5G radio with any settings with Intel AC7260 card, didn't try all combinations though, but auto/auto, n/ac auto, and n/ac 80 MHZ. Professional options tried to reduce advanced options to disabled until only AMPDU RTS and TX Bursting are on. History: jumped to...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Would there be any chance of getting the fixed ipv6 (tunnel) code into this release? 374.43 is infamous for disabling the hw acceleration with an ipv6 tunnel, something that's very intolerable as ipv6 is the only way to have a public ip address on a normal isp nat'ed (or double nat'ed)...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

On my AC66 i have noticed that sometimes after a fw upgrade, even a small next version, the router starts rebooting itself arbitrarily, approx once per day. The only solution is to reset the settings to factory defaults and then reconfigure the router, after which it will be rock solid and stay...

    Latest kernel version? for AC66

And Asus newer models are also still married to this ancient kernel version? Seems like my future router won't be an Asus then. Although upgrade time is probably 1-2 years away, so who knows what'll happen meanwhile.

    Latest kernel version? for AC66

Is it still Linux Asus 2.6.22.19? Is there any chance of even a slight upgrade, so that there would be ext4 support, which appeared only in 2.6.28? (afaik) Openwrt is at 3.10 already but there's a slight chance of bricking the router (or is this an empty fear?), a risk i would not be very...

    Adding a fan?

Just buy a cheap USB fan, my AC66U temps under full load went from 55 °C - 65 °C to 49 °C - 59 °C and no more occasional random reboots (it used to do that approx 2 times a month).

    Swap Memory

If you can spare a whole device (disk), it's very easy, note the device names are just examples, you can find your own by blkid, hdparm, partprobe, parted, etc tool (some of these are not installed by default, installation is with ipkg, for example ipkg info hdparm, ipkg install hdparm). An...

User scripts upon button press and LEDs

Unresponsive as in not being able to telnet or ssh in...yes it happens sometimes, routing and running apps (dl master/transmission) still work but can't get in; user fault but that's exactly why the sync would be nice, to minimize chances of any permanent corruption.

WD USB3 disk is scanned on each boot...

No clear solution, but could it be possible to format the data partition as ext3 instead? Any problems i ever had with usb disks, were because NTFS...it's just not stable.

User scripts upon button press and LEDs

If WPS button is configured as radio-on/off button, could it also include one 'sync' command? It'd be nice for cases when router is unresponsive and needs to be forcefully shut down.

    TCPMSS clamp to PMTU

ping -f -l 1500 host.domain , it will show an error when unfragmented packet can't get through anymore. Asus' basic ping defaults to Busybox and doesn't have -f option, but you can install hping (ipkg install hping), use it like hping -V -1 -c 1 --dontfrag --mtu 1500 -d 1472 host.domain -I eth0

    TCPMSS clamp to PMTU

I'm seeing some weird behavior from android clients regarding MTU and MSS. My connection is PPPoE, but the MTU resolves down to 1480, not 1492 (ISP setting probably). The wifi networks (eth1, eth2, br0) are on default settings, MTU 1500. Regardless, the Android clients (phones and tablets) seem...
