Redirect pings from WAN to internal network for router to respond?

Weird, yesterday when i checked /proc/sys/net/ipv4/conf/default/accept_source_route it was 0, indicating source routing is disabled, and i thought it's the default and didn't pursue this issue further (my rules had received 0 hits). But today after reboot, it shows 1... Edit: oopss seems i got...

Redirect pings from WAN to internal network for router to respond?

I was thinking about icmp messages with source routing, someone on the same internal network (10.0.0.0/8) who tries to find out more about my network could randomly poke my 10.0.1.100 address with source routing pointing to private network address space and wait for replies. And in order to...

Redirect pings from WAN to internal network for router to respond?

Would this be enough or will it go wrong somewhere, because my wan ip's are dhcp i'd need something like a reverse masquerade: iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -p icmp -i ! br0 -d 192.168.0.0/16 --icmp-type echo-request -j DNAT --to 127.0.0.1 Or should i make an active script which gets...

    RT-AC66R Reboots

How many drives, are they self powered or powered by the usb? I'm with 374.32 and have tried with up to 3 usb powered drives (WD 2 TB 2.5"), but did also notice separately that a Seagate drive (1 TB, older than the WD's) did have trouble starting up, hinting at a possible power issue. But...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Lower 6 bits for full db's is interpreted as a signed number, so your range for positive gain is 0-31, for negative gain -1 - -32. Maximum positive value with quarter db bits (7 and 8) on is 1101 1111 = 223 decimal.

This is highly interesting, anyone try this yet?

It's also possible to redirect syslog to /tmp by $ rm /jffs/syslog.log && ln -s /tmp/syslog.log /jffs/syslog.log The link will survive across reboots.

Limited but effective QoS for Asus routers with CTF/hardware acceleration

It's a mystery why your TOS rules don't work, all traffic seems to be still with TOS 0 and thus goes to band 4. In order to gain more insight you could match tos rules in nat table postrouting chain. The counts should verify that the tos values are not getting assigned. Like "iptables -t nat -I...

Asus RTN66U CPU 100% with USB drive attached???

Minidlna tends to use all available cpu while scanning, you can lessen its impact by rescheduling its priority to as low as possible admin@RT-AC66U:/$ renice -n +19 PID PID is the process id of the minidlna process which you get from command "ps". You can do "ps [m]inidlna" to only get pid's for...

Limited but effective QoS for Asus routers with CTF/hardware acceleration

I have 3 large torrent downloads going on, absolutely saturating the connection, even 2 would be enough for that, but i'm purposely overloading it for testing. Meanwhile kids are watching youtube without any stuttering or buffering (their tablets are on band 1), and rest of family is surfing...

(link) Review: 24 TB add-on to your router for $99.78 (+disks)

It's as useful as the use you put it - if one wants a streaming/backup server and it handles those 100%, was it useful or not useful at all? Why pay $1000 for something you won't use when $100 will suffice to give you 100% of what was needed. The closest proper comparison is the Raspberry Pi...

    Disable shell auto logout?

But i live dangerously and still use telnet at home...and they do autologout if idle long enough. Some unresolved issues with my Cygwin terminal which refuses to clear screen anymore, and this affects ssh too. Command line clients are nice because they can be tabbed with ConEmu.

    Disable shell auto logout?

Is there a way to disable the shell auto logout? Web auto logout is disabled already but it doesn't seem to affect the shell.

Limited but effective QoS for Asus routers with CTF/hardware acceleration

It was a major disappointment that Asus' routers, for example my AC66, cannot have QoS on without dropping CTF, the hardware acceleration, and thereby cutting router performance drastically. However i've found a way to have limited yet meaningful QoS-like solution while keeping CTF on. It's...

Review: 24 TB add-on to your router for $99.78 (+disks)

Helpful folks at Asus included NZBget in their Download Master, to help saturate that 50 Mbps with what they primarily need/want ;) That's 13-15 TB per month for someone who automates it (or clicks 24/7).

(link) Review: 24 TB add-on to your router for $99.78 (+disks)

If your host machines have write rights on the NAS there is possibility of ransomware (Synolock etc), which will encrypt your files and demands payment to decrypt them. A large amount of people have lost their entire NAS to this, in worst case losing all their personal memories with photos and...

Review: 24 TB add-on to your router for $99.78 (+disks)

Full usenet feed reached 10 TB/day in 2011... Lesser amounts will result in enabling automatic downloading of an RSS feed for torrents, like for all those Linux ISO image collections.

Review: 24 TB add-on to your router for $99.78 (+disks)

Asus seems to do well enough but it'd be advisable not to stash your pr0n collection on the family server, anyway :D Really, talking about "performance delta" here is way missing the point. Either you spend $100 to gain ability to add massive storage, or don't. It should be self-evident...

(link) Review: 24 TB add-on to your router for $99.78 (+disks)

Exactly, there are many people who don't really need a full fledged NAS, just lots of storage and backup space in their home network. I had the router already, so spending additional $100 is closer to nothing, the money for the disks i'd spend anyway in one form or another. Amazon has a...
