    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Does anyone have a working AiMesh with two AX86Us working properly with 2.5GBE backhaul? I don't feel like resetting everything again!

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Thanks @L&LD , could it be a hardware issue though? Since you said it works perfectly well with your clients. I don't want to report something invalid to Merlin.

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Hi @GHammer and @L&LD , thank you for the tip. I've just started testing with Lan (main router) to Wan (node) and it's working so far. Only thing I'm not certain is whether I am connecting to the node successfully or if I am on the main router's signal. I'm sure I'll discover it within the next...

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Yes, that really is disappointing. I'll try it and let you know. Should any different options be selected under "management" @L&LD ?

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

So bad new @L&LD , the disconnects are back ever since I enabled ethernet backhaul

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Done and working @L&LD , thank you! I'll test it a bit longer but all seems to be working now. What should I do in the node's settings under management to ensure optimal stability and performance?

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Ok so that worked. Thank you @GHammer and @L&LD ! But I'm just on regular AiMesh. Connection is not great, but just OK. So what is the next step to get the wired backhaul working without screwing up the current success?

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Thanks @L&LD I had a feeling WPS would have an effect here. Ok I will redo that with WPS turned off and do a full reset of the node as you suggested. Fingers crossed. I'll get back to you once that's done. Thank you so much!

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Hi @Sky1111 , that's good to know, thank you! However in my case, I do not like the idea of having 2 SSIDs, in which case I'm just better off using both my old ISP routers (Zyxel 2926). So far the solution that has worked the best was the single AX11000 followed by the single AX86U. The AX86 was...

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Thank you, great article but not sure if it's applicable here. Will disabling APSD potentially solve my problem? @L&LD , before I added the second router, everything was functioning buttery smooth. In fact, the single AX86U router was doing a good job at covering all of my place, albeit not as...

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Thanks for your response @L&LD . Well according to the firmware, it's connected. Should I be redoing certain steps? - Control channel: there was never any issue with the control channel I was on (161) but I did change it to 52. When I am on the second floor (this is where 5ghz works), the...

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Thanks @hancox , I didn't know that it could be done that way, and I didn't know that having WPS on or off on either the router or the node could make a difference. All that to say, I used @L&LD 's method of connecting the node from it's WAN port to the main router's LAN port and i was able to...

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Hi @L&LD , I am trying to follow your steps but the Node won't allow AiMesh to connect wirelessly. The routers are 2 feet apart in the same room. The node only has power connected to it and i did the full reset as per your article (holding the WPS button...). Any advice on how to fix this?

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Hmmm sorry to hear about the problems @Sky1111 ! I've tried the AiMesh reboot as suggested by @L&LD , but it only works on and off, but it works more often now. Not really sure what to do. Wired and 2.4Ghz are working fine though.

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Thanks @L&LD , I'll try that now. To answer your questions: - Disconnects happen anywhere within a radius of 20 feet around the node. Right now, even after a reset, it will say that the password is wrong and boot us, then sometime it'll connect and that will last maybe 1 minute before we get...

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Thanks @Sky1111 , did you experience the same issue on yours? I've noticed you have the same setup as me. Also, should I rollback just on the node, or on the router and the node? @RMerlin @L&LD would appreciate your advice please:)

    Merlin 386.1 Beta 4 - AiMesh 2x AX86U, Node constantly disconnecting clients

Hi everyone, Just recently connected 2 AX86U via 2.5GBE backhaul as AiMesh, and the connection quality appears as "Great" according to the firmware. However, when I am near the node, I get a lot of drops, very often. Can someone help with this? Single router performance was good before...

    RT-AX86U AiMesh setup

Hmmm, I've been getting a lot of disconnects on the 5ghz channel on my cell phone, and password not recognized errors...happens when i am closer to the node. Odd

    RT-AX86U AiMesh setup

Ok thanks @L&LD , it's done and it's all connected using the 2.5GBE backhaul! Now what else can I do as refinements? I've set 2.4ghz to channel 1 and 5ghz to channel 161 as you suggested.

    RT-AX86U AiMesh setup

Ahhh thank you @L&LD , that is what I did not understand! I downloaded the firmware before doing anything and didn't connect the node to the internet. However, I unfortunately did that for the main router :S So router 1 now needs to go through a hard reset and the instructions you gave me. For...
