    RT-AX68U Availability

"Got rid of it" was me getting "lucky" I had a lightning strike at my house that took a ton of (yes, surge suppressed) equipment down with it. With the price drops, I replaced it with an AX-86S, which beats the pants off it in every way. Maybe later production runs got better? It's happened...

    RT-AX68U Availability

So mutliple users complaining of a whole wifi band dropping doesn't have weight? If I didn't have the same exact problem, I might be a little cynical, too, but I did, and I know what I'm doing.

    RT-AX68U Availability

Wrong. Former owner. Absolutely bad reviews here. Got rid of it. The below is only 12 pages  https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asus-ax68u-5ghz-band-dropping-disappearing.76091/

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285 (15-05-2023)

    1) You need to look up "opinion" apparently 2) "I for one am assuming the RT-AX86U model." means you are assuming EOL. I got an AX-6000, put 3.0.0.6 stock on it, and went the new Merlin beta within days. Bug-ridden junk. Multiple screens broken out of the box. Even with your assumption, i...

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.23285 (15-05-2023)

I'm assuming someone mistook an AC for AX? Can't fathom this router being dropped that quickly.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 beta is now available

QoS on? I'm not seeing similar on my (QoS off) AX-6000

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

So, for giggles, I tried enabling Adaptive QoS again, figuring "Why not?" I've, in the recent past, gone to 500/500 FTTH, but haven't bothered with QoS, due to earlier issues I noted above (and a dwindling use case at 500/500 speeds). The results on 388.2_2 seem promising, but I'm going to wait...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.2 is now available for select models

"Working" QoS (with fc on), and getting those speeds, is noteworthy. The AX86U (not pro) can't do it, and Asus doesn't seem to care.

    I'm new - router recommendations?

And $219 if you can stomach re-rubbished. That's a screaming deal.

330/110 Fiber - Best and easiest QoS settings to manage bufferbloat?

At 10/350, you are right at the edge of the non-HW-accelerated bandwidth. Do you get bad bufferbloat from a wired, known-good connection?
  11. H

WG Server test with flowcache bypass

that's the frustration - anyone over ~300Mbps can choose to either use no QoS, or reduce their bandwidth. If I had <300, Cake would be my choice too.
  12. H

WG Server test with flowcache bypass

It "works" in that it correctly segments traffic. It just throttles the download bandwidth to ~300Mbps, which defeats the purpose of using Adaptive. Cake can hit this, and with less hassle, without hardware acceleration

WG Server test with flowcache bypass

https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-388-1-is-now-available-for-all-supported-wifi-6-models.82084/page-38#post-819291 Guessing fc, at least interacts, if not is required by, nat acceleration. I could have confused the 2, though. However, disabling fc after enabling Adaptive QoS...

    AiMesh & Asuswrt-Merlin

It's similarly broken in stock. Not a merlin issue at all, really.
  15. H

WG Server test with flowcache bypass

As I understand it, this is incorrect, in the case of Adaptive QOS, which is the only QOS setting which doesn't disable fc by default.
  16. H

WG Server test with flowcache bypass

...which is the real disappointment here, especially on the AX86U. flowcache throttles (Adaptive) QoS too, and bypassing it here seems to hint that they're having trouble fixing it.
  17. H

"Best" new router that supports Merlin?

Let me guess - QoS of some kind was enabled on the AX88U, and not the AX6000

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.22068

Assuming you have ISP speeds of 300 or less, or haven't looked at your max speeds, after enabling Adaptive QoS (or disabled fc)? It, most certainly, is not "working" as intended.
  19. H

Asus rt-ax86u 5ghz band crashing with new firmware when downloading

Wishful thinking. Perfect example is QoS and flowcache on the AX86. Unless someone has proof otherwise, it's broken for everyone (the only people it's "working" for don't hit the bandwidth threshold to make it relevant). Disabling fc resolves the issue, but caps throughput. Been broken for...
