Double nat what problems could one get?

In "theory" there's more that "could" go wrong but I've never had a problem. In "theory" there could be a performance hit but I could never measure one. I never wanted to run double NAT. It just happened that way. Our ISP provided a modem/router combo and wouldn't "bridge" it. Their combo...

weird issue with rt-ac88 and 5ghz band

Me too. I think it was Fyodor Dostoyevsky who lamented something to the effect of, "Man is imperfect therefore everything man does will be imperfect." Now, like I mentioned up front, I could be totally wrong about all of this but here's my thinking; I remember back in the eighties when local...

weird issue with rt-ac88 and 5ghz band

I'm going to stick with this as a "potential" answer (until an expert chimes in with the "real" answer : -) Until then you might consider playing with the "Airtime Fairness" setting? https://routerguide.net/airtime-fairness-on-or-off/

    More than 3 Guest Networks?

By the time I read through this --> https://revolutionwifi.blogspot.com/p/ssid-overhead-calculator.html and this --> https://www.smallnetbuilder.com/basics/wireless-basics/32751-snb-answer-guy-how-many-ssids-is-too-many I was thinking three is pretty generous. And here's instructions for...

weird issue with rt-ac88 and 5ghz band

Good thought but since his service speeds are symetrical (600 Down and 600 Up) not likely.

weird issue with rt-ac88 and 5ghz band

Up front I consider myself a novice. As a novice I often say silly things. (I think that's ok because it often inspires smart people to say smart things.) Your question is why is the download so much slower than the upload. A WiFi service can have many WiFi clients. I think it tends to...

    Bridge/repeater

One might wonder why it's less than half the price? "caveat emptor" : -)

    Bridge/repeater

No "show stoppers" but; It's Ethernet port is only 100 Mbps rather than full Gigabit. It does not brag about "fast lane" or "cross connect" so it may only be a "repeater" rather than an "extender". (You'd have to check the manual to be sure.) It's AC 700 vs. AC1200

    Bridge/repeater

The Netgear 6150 Range Extender might not be the "best" option but it's certainly an affordable option. My favorite feature is "Fast Lane". You can dedicate one radio for the back haul to the router and leave the other open for clients only. It eliminates the "halving effect" oft mentioned...

Need an AiMesh (2nd router) recommendation.

Uh, wow! Thank you very much.

Need an AiMesh (2nd router) recommendation.

Maybe. Maybe not. We started as AImesh. Then we started playing with repeater/extender configurations which led to a subtopic; What happens when you start with a good router and "downgrade" it to a mesh node/repeater/bridge/AP? Does the "configurator" do a good job or does it make a few...

<lol> Not to worry, my wife is very comfortable with calling me that : -)

I agree but what kind of stuff did you tune for better responsiveness?

Need an AiMesh (2nd router) recommendation.

Actually, that was quite an insightful post. Thank you. That said I do use those silly WiFi analyzers on occasion. They give me a starting point, but, to paraphrase you, the proof is in the pudding. True enough, WiFi analyzers will not show baby monitors. old style cordless phones and...

So ... you are saying when you went Asus to Asus, eyuch and when you went Netgear to Netgear, eyuch but when you went Netgear to Asus all is well? Interesting. Anyway, it would seem what you're doing now is awesome so congratulations my new friend!

    Good catch! I missed that : -(

Need an AiMesh (2nd router) recommendation.

Yeah, I agree with that. Good to great wireless routers but it's the "by the way stuff" that ain't always so great. I'm looking at your speed test. 713 down and 33 up? 713 out of 1,000 possible ... over a wireless bridge from the far corner of the house sounds awesome to me! What's the...

    Time Warner, Spectrum, etc.

Thank you for your comment. My rambling post covered about ten issues/problems so what, exactly, are we talking about here? You're saying run Internet to the poll and then, instead of running a wire to the house, fire it out over WiFi? Thanks : -)

What router should i buy from target?

Target, eh. Target carries the Asus AC86U.

    Guest WiFi on repeater?

With, what, 7 billion people in the world it's likely I'll never come up with an original thought :-)
