2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

The bandwidth isn't shown on my cable, so I'm not sure what I bought. They do have it labeled with every foot, though. I haven't noticed that before. edit: The ad says "up to 550 mhz", so whatever that means. Maybe on the length of the run.

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

I'm going to have to study up on the routing procedures. I had a difficult time learning to terminate cable. I bought several types of RJ-45, and almost none of them worked properly. Part of it was the 23 gauge wire I was using, and part was the budget brands. I finally broke down and...

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

It says the cablle I've got is good for 10Gb. I've had it a while. I saw some of the cat 7 & 8 were smaller wire gage, but that may not be indicative of what it will carry. After closer measurement, I will need about 200' one way because of the route, although it's about 120' straight line...

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

I've got a 500' spool of cat 6 - 23 awg pure copper outdoor cable that I was planning to use off of. Maybe I should get 100' of cat 6A+ for the backhaul. Some say that there are not specs for anything over 6A, but that may be old by now.

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

Probably. I just ran a cable with the telephone line when I built my office because I thought I would need it. I was pretty green then. I still am. Now I don't need the telephone line so I will tie to them both and pull two cables and it might go better that way, if it's not full of mud...

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

Worst that can happen is I'll be like I am now. I am going to pull two cables if I can.

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

I just did. Two days ago on one, and yesterday on the other. Lightning fried one of my month old routers. I'm going to replace the connectors later today and see if it affects it.

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

Didn't work for me, must be something with the cable, still shows 100Mbs connection. It was on auto and had switched to wired connection, then switched back to wireless now. I didn't change anything.

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

So I don't need to configure a dual WAN for it to work? I gathered that from the 2 links I read. Should I configure Aimesh for ethernet backhaul, then switch to the 2.5G ports? I assume in both routers? I will try new connectors and see if that helps. It works fine with the 1G. thanks, jts

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

buried in conduit, but may not be able to pull in a replacement. It's been there for 15 years. Probably have to be a new replacement in a separate conduit. But it might not.....

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

Unfortunately I can't replace the cable, it's buried between my home and office, about 100'. I can test it with another cable by moving it closer temporarily. It shows 1Gb connected to the LAN port and works fine, but 100Mb when on the 2.5Gb LAN 5. I configured a dual WAN with the WAN as...

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

I think I found it, wasn't using search properly. edit: Well that didn't work for me. Can't get over 100Mb/s out of it.

2.5G Port for backhaul with Aimesh Node?

I connected my two AX86U's with the 2.5G Port as per other references I've read, but I'm only getting 100M according to the network map. Did I read that wrong, or is there something missing? I can't find anything on it .

Couple of Quick Questions for Aimesh Node setup

OK, folks, that's what I'll do! I had read where some would re-flash it, and I figured without going thru setup, but I couldn't find out how. It's just as well. I will start out with no WAN, then reset it, and connect to it as a node wirelessly before I move it to it's new home.

    Everything's up to date (Jun 10 2021 20:17)

Fantastic Jack needs a vacation if you ask me, as well as the rest of the coders, movers, and shakers around here. They do a marvelous job, and I appreciate it.

Couple of Quick Questions for Aimesh Node setup

How can I flash merlin firmware to a new RT-AX86U without going through setup? Or can I? And, it seems unnecessary to do factory reset with a new router if I can get it flashed first without setup. It should be as factory as it can get. Is my thinking wrong on this? Trying to get a node back...

    Fried/ Bricked RT-AX86U or?

Thanks, an inline grounding device from the ISP's cable might just stop it. I will also check into your other suggestions. It wasn't a large surge either time, but enough to take out my routers, switches, cam, and tablo recorder. I have a call in to the ISP also to see what they recommend...
