News Game On for Wi-Fi 6E

Thanks for the observations and the recommendation! I'm just speculating, but since the dedicated backhaul has been a staple of the top-of-the-line Netgear Orbi systems from the beginning, I imagine they will be one of the first tri-band mesh systems utilizing the 6 Ghz band for that purpose.

News Game On for Wi-Fi 6E

Before I read the news about Wi-Fi 6E, I was prepared to buy the Netgear Orbi AX6000 tri-band mesh system. My Google Nest Wi-Fi mesh system, which is comprised of all routers (no Nest access points since the specs are lower), works but since I've been working from home exclusively since March...

News Game On for Wi-Fi 6E

Glad I stumbled across this today. I was able to sink some significant capital into a NETGEAR - Orbi AX6000 mesh system, which is apparently in high demand right now because most of the online outlets were out of stock. My Google Nest Wifi setup will have to do until the WiFi 6E systems come out.

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

I have a Shield TV (2019), and it's a beauty. The only reason I bought the Fire TV Stick is because the Super Bowl 4k broadcast was not being offered on the Shield TV - only Roku and the Amazon Fire devices.

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

I have heard from others that it might have been the Fox Super Bowl broadcast and not my configuration that was at fault, and what you described is exactly what happened to me. Yes, switching to the standard broadcast was jarring - the difference between 4K and 720p is dramatic!

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

I will reach out to them again, but I called them to explain my dilemma, and as far as they're concerned, since I get the advertised speeds when connecting to their servers, there is no issue.

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

So I replaced the Arris gateway with an Arris SB8200, and it is indeed compatible with my Internet service provider. It would appear, however, that I've lost some Internet speed in the exchange (and the gateway is sold, so I can't plug it back into the system). I ran the native Windows Speedtest...

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

You've offered a lot of helpful suggestions - I appreciate the time you devoted to this! I will start with the cable modem. Unfortunately, Shentel sold the Arris gateway to me, so it would have to go on eBay if I'm to replace it. The sad thing is that I had an SB8200 and they told me it wouldn't...

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

Supposedly, Google Nest WiFi has a Band Steering feature that automatically chooses the band that gives me the best WiFi. I don't know what it chooses for my streaming devices.

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

The house is 4,000 square feet, but there are four levels and an add-on room (the office) with one brick wall that used to be the outside of the house. As a result, there are two places that have had difficulty in the past with WiFi access, and the signal was still weak in those two places when...

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

My configuration follows: - DIRECTV (for TV service only) - Arris DG3450 Cable Gateway (ISP is Shentel, a cable service provider) - Speed: up to 300 Mbps download, 9.52 Mbps upload - Google Nest WiFi router w/ five access points (all are actually Nest WiFi routers; I wanted each module to have...

Question on 4K streaming and Internet Speed

I bought an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K so I could watch the Super Bowl in 4K HDR, and my experience left me frustrated. It worked beautifully for a while – the picture was absolutely gorgeous. At some point, however, the picture would occasionally freeze, and then it stopped altogether and gave me...

    Is Anyone Using MU-MIMO?

Thanks for the excellent feedback! It sounds like MU-MIMO is a specification I can safely ignore. I look forward to the router upgrade. I've been pleased with the reliability of my Google WiFi system, so I'm glad the Nest WiFi router integrates with existing Google WiFi systems, or so they...

    Is Anyone Using MU-MIMO?

So I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to the topic of MU-MIMO, so please bear with me. I am assuming that the iPhone X, Pixel 3a and Pixel 4XL are MU-MIMO capable (I haven't been able to find a list). I have a Google WiFi mesh network with a router and three nodes in a 3,742 square foot...

Differing Internet Speeds for Wired Devices

In case anyone is still interested, I installed a new motherboard with an Intel chipset and a Pentium Gold G5400 processor into my wife's machine today to test the theory that the AMD chipset was the limiting factor in my wired Ethernet connection's internet speed results. I did not do a clean...

Differing Internet Speeds for Wired Devices

I thought I would close the loop with everyone on this topic. After numerous types of tests, I've narrowed it down to either 1) a problem with the AMD chipset on the motherboard or 2) a software problem. I even installed a standalone Intel gigabit Ethernet adapter using the PCI-E x 1 slot, with...

Differing Internet Speeds for Wired Devices

BTW, I connected another cable (Cat 6) to the same port on the router, and then to the desktop and the laptop, and ran Speedtest. I obtained the same results as with the other cable - 108.56 download/8.37 upload on the desktop, 317.66 download/9.98 upload on the laptop.

Differing Internet Speeds for Wired Devices

Those are good suggestions - the NIC is essentially the same as the one in my machine, and I've updated to the latest Realtek drivers, so it has to be something related to the motherboard. Thanks for the checklist!

Differing Internet Speeds for Wired Devices

Oh, my wife seems content with her Internet speed - the geek in me is challenged by this mystery, however! :)

Differing Internet Speeds for Wired Devices

Let me see if I can address your questions. There are two lights on at each LAN interface, a green stable light and an amber blinking light All the machines are using Windows 10 64-bit (one is Pro, the rest are Home) The MB chipsets/LAN Controllers/(Download/Upload speed in mbps) are...
