Any update on AX86u - Pro model?

Just checking if there's any update on these models. Looking to update from ac68u. I can see the AX86u is out of stock / not getting restocked and don't want the nerfed ax86s model.

Ubiquiti Dream Router vs Asus AX86U. Which one to choose?

Good to know.. In saying that, by the looks of it the GT AX6000 is it not currently supported by Merlin? That's a huge caveat going down that path. Or did I miss that somewhere??

Ubiquiti Dream Router vs Asus AX86U. Which one to choose?

I just have no idea what way to go... I like the Ubiquiti interface but then I have questions as to whether the UDM will have same/similar wifi coverage to the ac68u. I just want to spend the money and get a good upgrade over this router. What does the AX6000 offer over the AX86U in that...

Ubiquiti Dream Router vs Asus AX86U. Which one to choose?

I too am looking at upgrading my AC68u. I hear the UDM has way more cpu throughput as it's a quad core as opposed to dual core with the UDR. I am tossing up to go down the UDM route as you mentioned with business grade equipment. Or upgrade to the AX86u over my ac68u. Currently on 1000/50 internet.

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Interesting! Well I'll probably be going between 250Mbps, 400Mbps and 1000Mbps connections depending on month to month. So is there recommendations on routers to look out for that will improve over the ac68u?

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

I don't have QoS enabled because NaT hw acceleration becomes disabled and the speed tanks. Isn't bufferbloat tied to QoS?

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Is it a worthwhile investment to replace this ac68u? They both use AC wifi but afaik the ac68u is nearing ~10+ years old. I think it's a bad idea to get the UDR for the cpu hit and just go with the UDM for the all in one functionality. The AC68u has plrenty of range throughout the house so it...

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Would just have been nice if they made their newer UDR WiFi6 machine with a stronger cpu.

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Probably is my weakest area in terms on knowlege. Going down the Pihole rabbit hole and wanting to learn more about networking I feel it's a very capable device. Will probably keep an eye out for when one goes on sale.

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Yeah, also now deciding whether to ditch the ac68u and look at going for a Ubiquti dream machine and get into the UniFi side and start tinkering with the network and learning more about networking in general.

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

So DNSFilter can capture DOT traffic??

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Also, I am on a 1000Mbps connection and have hw acceleration enabled. I find sometimes the speed does fluctuate a bit. Is it at these sorts of speeds that the router is beginning to show its age? Is it worth getting a more powerful router to support these speeds more consistently? Could imagine...

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

I haven't had a chance to change it yet. Though, now I am wondering whether to just delete the rule and run with DNSFilter as the others in the thread have mentioned..

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

I can just as easily place it in the different path. Was there a modification made to the iptables rules with the -t Nat mentioned above??

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Do I run 'iptables -L' and that should show me that it has taken effect?

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Awesome, I think this is a bit better then using dnsfilter. Maybe it works the same but I feel anything obviously is hardcoded to be force redirected. So primary rpi will be XX:XX mac and secondary rpi will be YY:YY mac? just double checking

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Too easy, I use it in the firewall-start script assume either one works? I'll try this one shortly when I get a chance. Thanks.

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

I deleted the script so I wasn't using either. So just use the -I example you put above and put both mac addresses for each primary and secondary pihole for # 1 and # 2?

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

Never used iptable rules before is it a preference thing? Is there a way to see? iptables -s Shows me a heap of -A ones so assuming that's what my router uses??

    Asus AC68-u iptable rule question

How do I find out if it is -l or -a? Not too sure but yes I have 2x RPI's running so happy to use the example below but let's figure that out first as that sounds and makes sense to me as they both share the high availability virtual ip of 192.168.1.20 so I can get the mac addresses for each...
