    Comcast wants me to upgrade

They sent me a very short list of 5 modems & modem/router combos. I don't want a combo, which is why I narrowed it down to the CODA56. I don't know what's in it for them since I'm already paying for the plan and I'd be buying the new modem retail. I might do it just for the sake of upgrading to...

    Comcast wants me to upgrade

Aha. This is news to me, thanks for the info!

    Comcast wants me to upgrade

Thanks for the replies. Very helpful. Comcast is only suggesting this would improve upstream bandwidth. Maybe a year ago, Speedtest showed Comcast was limiting upstream to 5 Mbps. Now they're allowing 40 Mbps with my current equipment. We are not gamers, so only video calls like Zoom and...

    Comcast wants me to upgrade

Comcast emails me periodically that I should upgrade my cable modem for better upload speeds. They're not trying to sell me a modem, they are suggesting I buy a new one on my own. They suggest that with better upstream bandwidth I'll get better video calls and such. There are 2 of us in the...

Unable to manual upload file for firmware upgrade

This works for me in Firefox. Browse to the firmware update page. Open a Web Console with Ctrl-Shift-K. At the >> prompt, type open_AiMesh_router_fw_upgrade(); That should invoke the firmware upgrade function and open a file browser so you can select the firmware file.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

Uptime now 22 hours without incident. dcd remains well behaved. EDIT: I found this from 10 minutes ago in my log: Nov 8 09:36:43 kernel: asd/5924: potentially unexpected fatal signal 11. The TM features appear to be working. I can turn them off and on and they respond. I'm not sure how to...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

I've been running it for just over an hour and it seems fine. No crashes or mysterious log entries.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

I spoke too soon. The messages are back despite the fact that I continue to have dcd processes apparently running. Nov 5 11:25:26 kernel: dcd/8254: potentially unexpected fatal signal 6. Nov 5 11:25:26 kernel: dcd/8247: potentially unexpected fatal signal 6. Nov 5 11:25:26 kernel: dcd/8246...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

Looking good so far. Haven't seen any dcd crashes. ps shows 6 instances of dcd, all saying 3476 S dcd -i 3600 -p 43200 -b -d /tmp/bwdpi/ Of course, I have no idea what dcd is or what that means. ;)

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.12 is now available for AC models

You made me look. I have a couple dozen of these also, but not thousands. On my 68U, they seem to come and go. I can issue ps commands and sometimes all the shn_ctrls have disappeared. Then later, they come back. I wonder what they are.

Solved Should I care about this log entry?

I've been getting tons of this warning since updating to 386.12 on my aged AC68U. Should I worry about it?

I have 3 DHCP ranges instead of 1

That makes sense, but the oddity is that my router's WiFi is disabled and I do all WiFi, including guest network, through an Orbi RBR50 used as the primary access point. Somehow the Asus router is seeing the Orbi's guest network? Interesting.

I have 3 DHCP ranges instead of 1

I just noticed this in my syslog for the first time ever. I only set up 1 DHCP range, but the log is showing 3. I did add a new WiFi DHCP node today. The 3rd range below is my "real" one. Is this normal or did I mess something up?

    Write-error on swap-device crashed AC68U

Thanks for the replies. I pulled the USB stick and will see how the router works without it. I don't think I really need to swap, I probably just plugged in the stick because it was sitting around unused. It's a 1 GB stick, try to find one that small nowadays!

    Write-error on swap-device crashed AC68U

That seems probable. It's been so long since I've had to look at this (68U has been humming along trouble free for years) that I can't remember where to look for swapping settings/activity/capacity. Could someone remind me? I kind of thought the router didn't really need to swap, that this was...

    Write-error on swap-device crashed AC68U

I got hundreds of these messages prior to a crash. I have never seen this before. Running Merlin 386.9 on my trusty old AC68U. And I do mean "old". I have been swapping to a USB stick in the router for years, and this is new. What does it mean?

    Constant DDNS refreshes

Thanks for the reply. I continue to see these from time to time also. Good to have a better solution than rebooting.

    Constant DDNS refreshes

Reboot fixed it. Duh. No dual WAN. Sorry for the waste of forum bandwidth.

    Constant DDNS refreshes

This is new. Suddenly, my AC68U running 386.5_2 is logging constant DDNS refreshes. Like every 30 seconds. Ideas?
