    R7800 SmallNetBuilder Review

Has anyone tried the OpenVPN Server functionality? I would like the ability to occasionally remote in and run a DB application (client on laptop) or download documents (mostly word or PDF). We own one of these that is setup as an AP. Home LAN, 200/50 service. One client only. No gaming...

    Astound\RCN User Tested Modems 2022

Astound\RCN does not specifically cite any make\model of modem as approved, but rather make some blanket statements here: https://www.astound.com/support/internet/bring-your-own-modem/. The Motorola MB8600 is the exception and noted as problematic. Approved Modem List (.com) does not list...

Verizon ONT - Working with COAX

Yeah, my bad. I was very unclear. I changed perspective and did not say so. The condo is totally sorted, though not the way I originally had envisioned. Thank you! Generically, I am trying to understand MoCA devices by themselves, most are relativity price for a pair, and the latest tech...

Verizon ONT - Working with COAX

So I ended up taking the low road with a Verizon G1100 and a WCB6200Q AP for short money. The G1100 alone pretty much resolves the issue. She now gets 60\60 Mbps at her desk at the opposite corner of the same floor. The AP is setup upstairs in the bedroom, but she is not sure she will keep it...

    Powerline with WIFI

@SansB Thanks for your extensive notes. Can you supply any performance numbers between nodes on same and different circuits, WiFi speed, etc? I read a disappointing review that had the g.hn slower than the AV products Did not see that coming. My TP-Links have a config utility, but it just...

    Powerline with WIFI

I was trying not to specify a product as I was concerned that might limit responses. Looks like the market is making a comeback. Most are AV2 1000. TP-Link has 4 items in their current menu: TL-WPA8630 Kit - QCA9653\QCA9886 TL-WPA8631P Kit - MT7603EN\MT7613 BEN TL-WPA7510 Kit -...

    Powerline with WIFI

Using a consumer router with a WAN port is apparently not simply supported in a Verizon eco-system. It's doable with a lot of work and often extra parts, and I would end up with a router in a sub-optimal location (basement). Wiring Ethernet is a no-go. MoCA is an option, but even then none of...

    Powerline G.hn vs AV2 discussions

I've been looking at these too, and disappointed to here these numbers. FWIW, I have 2 sets of TP-Link Powerline adapters, the PA7017 and PA9020s. On the the same circuit I get 150Mbps with the 7017 and 250Mbps with the 9020. On opposite sides of the panel I get about 50 and 70 respectively.

    Powerline with WIFI

I'm mostly looking for reviews on specific products in this class as to how well they perform. Config is not an issue. We have an older Verizon 2.4 G N router (Actiontec MI424WR Rev 1). It's located about 40 feet from the home office on 75/75 service (grandfathered). Currently connecting in...

    Powerline with WIFI

I have 2 sets of TP-Link Powerline adapters, the PA7017 and PA9020s. On the the same circuit I get 150Mbps with the 7017 and 250Mbps with the 9020. On opposite sides of the panel I get about 50 and 70 respectively. I replaced the 7017 with the 9020 for the AC port. The 7017 are OK with most...

Verizon ONT - Working with COAX

Option 4 does not include the MoCA adapter so I read it as you were adding the device and some level of functionality. As written option 4 does not support VOD or Guide. Caller ID is NBD. One STB, no plans to expand. Not seeing the value in buying a MoCa 2.5 for the one device. Will the...

Verizon ONT - Working with COAX

Thanks for your insight. A lot to digest and re-read. So if I choose option 4, and add a MoCA adapter (Router LAN => MoCA Etherent then COAX => STB) does this restore the missing VOD and\or Guide? We have a Motorola QIP7232/A386/014/500. Do you know if the can be run off the Ethernet port...

Verizon ONT - Working with COAX

I have a 90's era condo, no Ethernet in the walls. The Verizon ONT is in the basement and the COAX is connected thru a splitter to very old (Wireless N) Verizon router up in the living-room and other places. I wish to replace the router with a newer, non Verizon, AC or AX router. TV is...

RT-AC68U with new RT-AC86U as Access Point or AiMesh

The OP never makes a comment about speed, only coverage. The OPs option 1, which is basically L&LDs recommendation, I think is technically the best. To be clear, what ever it is, put your best radio in the central location. Set it up as a Wired AP. If it does not make the mark, you can...

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

So, not a black and white answer here. It appears that many, if not all, of the devices with the FCCID ending with 68P V2 only have a label with SN, MAC and WPS PIN. There is (was) a HW version on the box itself, but for most that's been recycled. I have read this and other posts that...

Mesh system stopped working and now won't add previous mesh node

As L&LD said. Sounds like the issue with the RT-AC68u, there is more detail in this post and thread. Once you connect the cable to the Nodes WAN you need to wait until the connection icon changes from Wireless to Ethernet. Please specifically report each devices firmware level. 6 months...

    Am I Hacked?

Problem with ASUS ZenWiFi AX Mini xd4 and Moca 2.0 wired backhaul

Moca is generally for those places that do not have Ethernet (or wireless that can supply an IP address) to a "Smart" cable box. Are you using Moca 2.0 adapters or is the Moca in the Cable Tuners? who is you ISP? Ask them if you can run over Ethernet (don't say wireless) Do the Cable Boxes...
