Does AI Mesh with an ethernet backhaul via a Powerline adaptor between the two Asus routers actually work?

Just for the record, because my experience with these has been flaky, which model(s) are you using or have successfully tested? Have you done a "wired" speedtest across these devices? (you may want to try this tool by Totsoft , the 1.3 version does not need and installer)

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

There is no evidence, that I have seen, that indicates establishing a functioning AIMesh and "dropped connections" are related. In this post I am using stock ASUS firmware and discuss dropped connections. It predates this Merlin thread. There are other similar posts. I can see how some (you)...

    News OpenWRT 21.02.0 Stable Release

@Jeffrey Young Open-WRT is great. Here is a link to the VLAN page and the user forum. The Table of Hardware will help you figure out what works and what does not and help you find the info for your device that is relevant to getting it up and running. Here is the list of Raspberry devices...

    AiMesh router cannot find node

@stretch, I am unclear exactly what you have tried. Did you try using the Ethernet cable to configure the 3rd node before or after changing the firmware? Have you tried to hard-reset the 3rd node since your firmware change?

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

@fisherman10 You are subverting the nature of this post on the MERLIN thread, and as written, incorrectly communicating functionality. As @Tech9 has stated. You also state, incorrectly: The only need for the Ethernet is initial CONFIGURATION of the AIMesh node(s). Once configured, wireless...

Workaround or fix for slow upload speeds on Asus Zenwifi XT8 w/Verizon Fios?

There is no discussion here about firmware here. I struggled with a performance with a set of CT-8's whose firmware I upgraded twice, IIRC, after purchase (dirty upgrades). It was not until I did a proper reset of the devices, both hardware and then from the Administration section, checking...

AiMesh not working anymore on 2 latest Merlin firmwares

I do not believe that this is correct in all cases. If one is using an RT-AC68u (family) device as a ROUTER and NODE(S) and either device has 386.2_6 or higher, then an Ethernet cable is required connected to the WAN of node to create the AIMesh. After the mesh is running, the device can be...

@Volkis See this thread Once you read it and test the solution, please reply to that thread with your results.

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

I left DD-WRT because I found it limiting and was concerned it was dying. I went to Open-WRT and found it much more flexible. Unfortunately there is very limited support for ASUS Broadcom wireless.

    RT-AC68U / RT-AC68P / RT-AC1900 / RT-AC1900P

Not clear on the status of the DD-WRT project. The Router Database is not being maintained and pretty much dead . If you go to the Forums pages you may find what you are looking for. It's been some years, but I think you may find multiple forks\maintainers for some devices. I mostly used...

Advice needed for best setup for RT-AC68U, VLAN for IoT and TP-Link M4

If you had this setup in the old place, it should substantially be plug and play in the new place. You may need to change some WAN connection parameters. You are mixing Manufactureres\Brands. AIMesh is an ASUS product, not a TP-Link product. I think they use "One Mesh" for thier "DIY" mesh...

ASUS RT AC68U - Android Tethering Through 5G Handset Challenge

I support @L&LD and offer this post which the OP indicates less than expected speeds. I have notes similar (slow, but in line with your results) performance in my reply #18 with a pair of AC-RT1900p (RT-AC68u family) devices. Have you tried setting the router up in "Repeater" mode and...

    RT-AC68U in Media Bridge mode won't go faster than 288.9 Mbps. Main router = AX-88U. RSSI @ AC-68U is a strong -35dBm.

@fisherman10 As best I can tell from your posts is that the AC66u b1 is a media bridge. How is the AC68u configured, the same? I would still be happy with a 200mbps speed. Please see my post #18 for a tool to measure you speed internally. This will allow you to specifically test your...

    AiMesh with 7 RT-AC68U - a single node is constantly crashing/rebooting

There are some issues with the RT-AC68U being able to form an AIMesh config as you describe. See this post. This began with 386.2_6. LSS, it appears that you should be able to configure AIMesh by connecting the Routers LAN to the Nodes WAN via Ethernet and then Adding a node. This is NOT the...

AiMesh node - with wired client

I am only suggest you test the one you are running, again I do not think the mode will change performance. It's more a curiosity of are you using all your ISP band width or not.

AiMesh node - with wired client

So, to be clear, you are referring to the list of clients on Network Map => Clients button => Client Status list or View List button, and\or (what should be the same) AIMesh => [Select a device] => Client List You are not referring to the AIMesh nodes them selves (green line) disconnecting...

    Mixed aimesh 1.0 and 2.0 (68 vs 3100)

Do they say T-Mobile on them?? I am happy you have this running. If you have the issue again, I will suggest reverting the nodes to the latest ASUS AIMesh firmware. Merlin himself has suggested using ASUS stock firmware on the nodes.

Help needed, wifi 2.4 is slowing down, and eventually all clients drop

So, we can see how that's working out for ya. If you read the nuclear option you will see that you are NOT doing all of the things that you could do to for a router with problem
