Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_6 is now available

You were 100% correct in both the diagnosis and the fix. Thanks! (Now the "admin" profile is not modifiable. But I suppose this is by design (?) -- not sure since I never paid attention to this before.) So this was probably not an issue with the update but with the nvram fill-up/clean-up? How...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_6 is now available

I've attached screenshots. when "admin" was selected, all 3 buttons (add, remove, edit) are available. When "user" as selected, only "add" is available.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_6 is now available

That was what I did, and it helped (lowering use by ~20%). Problem is that despite "nvram commit" the effect won't survive a reboot.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.2_6 is now available

I have two issues with this update (was from 384.xx) -- [1] I have set up two profiles/accounts for SMB, one named "admin" that has full access to everything, and one named "user" that has more restricted access. I set up access for clients (phones etc.) with the "user" profile and it had...

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.5 is now available

moved from 384.2 to 384.5 (on AC68U) a few weeks ago. Haven't noticed any functional issue. On the other hand, it seems that after a couple of weeks without hard restart (i.e.unplug/replug) the cpu utilization would be getting higher and higher, to the point of hovering above 90% on both cores...

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.4 is now available

Thanks. I'll also try this. I have also confirmed that the failure of network service filter rules was not due to "established" connection living past the allowed period -- I rebooted the router inside the prohibition period and connections to blocked ports were again established a while...

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.4 is now available

With 380, I did not even seem to have the problem of "established" connection going into the prohibited time period (at least not long enough for me to notice). How long can an "established" connection last? I still suspect that the time checking part in the firewall rules implementation has...

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.4 is now available

Parental control (and firewall) worked on 380 -- I have been using it for a long time. I had to turn off parental control on 384 because (as reported by others as well) when enabled, it blocks internet access randomly even during "allow" periods. Sean

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.4 is now available

More info on the firewall issue: My network service filter looks like the pic attached. I suppose the setting should block any access from my local network to any IP address on port 6xxx between 9am-5pm, correct? And it seemed to work this way before, with up to 380.69_2. Now with 384.4 this...

    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.4 is now available

(AC68U on 384.4) This had been reported on 384.3 but seems unaddressed in 384.4 -- [1] Parental control -> time schedule is broken. Any device set to have time schedule would frequently (and randomly) show the "internet blocked" page during the allowed time period. [2] Firewall -> Network...

    kernel warning msg w.r.t. hdd

updated to 384.4 and the message remains. Tons of it, as before. It seems that other people who saw this message tend to have problem accessing the usb drive (and with other error messages); So far I have not had access problems.

    dns problem

Updated to 384.4 ... It seems the issue remains. It must have something to do with the settings, if not everyone has the problem.

    dns problem

That makes sense. Silly me I never looked under WAN ... So what is the purpose of the DMS server setting under LAN? Or maybe you meant that the DNS setting under LAN is sent to client to query, while the one under WAN is used by the router itself to query (when serving as DNS server for the...

    dns problem

dns settings (under LAN->DHCP Server) I have a DSL modem connecting to outside that runs DHCP service and assigns 192.168.0.1 to itself and 192.168.0.2 to my router which is the only client connected to the modem. The router then runs DHCP services and assigns 192.168.1.1 to self and the real...

    kernel warning msg w.r.t. hdd

AC68u, currently 380.69_2 but issue existed with earlier versions as well. I have a 2TB Toshiba USB3.0 portable HDD connected to the router. It works fine (all supported protocols). But from time to time system log shows: Mar 17 10:55:01 kernel: xhci_hcd 0000:00:0c.0: WARN: Stalled endpoint...

    dns problem

No Privoxy, No optware/entware, router accessible while dns is down, nothing regarding dns in log, ssh to router possible. I could also access anything via numerical ip. In all appearance DNS seems the only problem. Often times I wouldn't even notice this (as I usually work through established...

    dns problem

ac68u running 380.69_2 (planning to move to 384 but needs time to do the re-configuration so ...) I have been having this problem for a long time, with earlier versions as well -- After the router has been up for a while (a couple of days? the length of the period seems random), it will stop...

How to slow down traffic to certain ports at certain hours

Thanks. I took a quick look, and have 2 questions (forgive me if these have been answered -- pointers are appreciated)-- [1] I only want these bandwidth limitations applied in early morning. How is this done with FreshJR's QoS? [2] If the lowest class is the only one using the network at the...

The router is an AC68U, a gift to them from me ;-)

How to slow down traffic to certain ports at certain hours

[I'm posting this question for a female friend. I don't necessarily agree or disagree with her approach :-) but this seems an interesting tech question and I don't know the answer] OK, so on some days my BF would play certain games into the wee hours ... which is affecting his/our normal life...
