Microsoft Teams / Zoom / Google Meet - periodic sound loss during the call/meeting - AX86u with Merlin 386.1

Ok then, send a message to any of the moderators on the Rogers forum to disable the OFDM channel. You can also use @communityhelps on the Rogers forum which is a collective address for the moderators.

Microsoft Teams / Zoom / Google Meet - periodic sound loss during the call/meeting - AX86u with Merlin 386.1

Ok, in that case, have a look at the following thread, specifically after the signal levels posted in that thread. The object of the exercise at this point is to look for packet loss due to degradation of the external cable and connectors...

Microsoft Teams / Zoom / Google Meet - periodic sound loss during the call/meeting - AX86u with Merlin 386.1

Those numbers look ok. Only problem from what I can see is the upstream OFDMA channel being enabled at this time. Maybe one of the moderators can move the thread to the Other LAN and WAN forum section or other appropriate section.

Microsoft Teams / Zoom / Google Meet - periodic sound loss during the call/meeting - AX86u with Merlin 386.1

OFDM is downstream, which is fine. That's been in operation for 4 years now. OFDMA is upstream, which is new, and for this modem, is causing problems at the present time. So, you need Rogers to disable the OFDMA (upstream) channel. Possibly by now its just a call to tech support. I'd give...

Microsoft Teams / Zoom / Google Meet - periodic sound loss during the call/meeting - AX86u with Merlin 386.1

To log into the modem with the modem in: Bridge mode: use 192.168.100.1 thru the router Gateway mode: use 192.168.0.1 thru the router You don't have to disconnect the router, keep your network as is. Now, if you attempt to log into the modem, and it hangs, not wanting to display the login...

Microsoft Teams / Zoom / Google Meet - periodic sound loss during the call/meeting - AX86u with Merlin 386.1

That probably means that Rogers has disabled the OFDMA channels on your modem (in your area, or on your specific neighbourhood node). Other customers who have seen their OFDMA channel disabled have reported that the problems have stopped. Here are two of the relevant threads from the Rogers...

Microsoft Teams / Zoom / Google Meet - periodic sound loss during the call/meeting - AX86u with Merlin 386.1

I'd argue with the idea that the 4582 is past its shelf life. The XB6 which is used for the Ignite TV service has two versions, the Arris TG-3482ER which uses the same Intel Puma 7 chipset, as does the 4582, with minor variation to add telephone service to the XB6. The other version is a...

Packet loss in Double NAT situation

Yup, I'm on the Rogers forum as well. I'd definitely follow this up with the Office of the President. This is really simple. Tell the customers what the loads are on the neighbourhood nodes and CMTS when there are problems such as this. That load number will indicate whether or not its...

Packet loss in Double NAT situation

You can get false packet loss indications from Pingplotter. Thats yet another problem with using Pingplotter. So, if you do this in stages: 1. Ping the router (just the router) via ethernet, you should not see packet loss. This should convince you that there's no packet loss to or from the...

    Assistance With Ping and Jitter

Looking at your previous response, you have an OFDM channel downstream and OFDMA channel upstream running, which will provide a higher two way data rate and lower latency compared to a modem that is running QAM channels in both directions, without any OFDM / OFDMA channels running. Having...

    Assistance With Ping and Jitter

I agree with your thoughts on node congestion. Upload data rates are a problem due to the limited number of upstream channels (3 or 4) that Rogers uses. Having said that, look at your modem signal data which should show 32 downstream Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) channels and most...

    Assistance With Ping and Jitter

You have to run this via ethernet to determine if you have a cable problem on the go. If you're using the XB6 and probably the XB7 with Rogers Ignite TV service, you normally don't have any control over the wifi channels that the modem uses unless you've never used the wifi app or online app...

    Assistance With Ping and Jitter

@SilentStorm, you're pinging the wrong IP address, unless of course, Rogers established that address specifically for XB6 and XB7 modems. The correct IP address for Rogers IPV4 DNS is: Primary: 64.71.255.204 Secondary: 64.71.255.198 If I use the same address that you used, I don't end up...

    DOCSIS vs Ethernet

The image can't be seen for some reason. The following is displayed: "Oops! We ran into some problems." The DOCSIS path to the CMTS and beyond should probably be the default setting. That DOCSIS path is thru the connected RG6 cable. As for the Ethernet path, that's a good question. I don't...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 is now available

RT-AX86U running Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 calls home. This shouldn't be a surprise I presume, but, nonetheless, its interesting to see that it does occur. I connected the RT-AX86U behind a RT-AC86U which is running Skynet and Diversion and, after determining the correct IP address to watch with...

    Hitron 4582 Signal Issue

Fwiw, when the tech is around, running cable from the utility pole, ask him what the frequency range happens to be for the tap that's located up on the pole. It should be at least 5 to 1000 Mhz, considering that Eastlink is running a high OFDM channel that runs from 751 to approx 844.95 Mhz...

    Hitron 4582 Signal Issue

The short story, you need a tech to inspect and possibly replace your external cable and its connectors. The longer story ....... Very simply, you have a signal level problem. The chart shows the DOSCIS 3.0 signal levels, channels 1 to 24 from your data. That line should be a flat line at...
