    [Release 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.4 is now available

The only thing left to do, I think, is to record the router - Ubuntu exchange with Wireshark. You would need to record two sessions, one with a router firmware version that works, and one with 384.4 loaded. Here's what I would do: 1. Turn off all other wifi devices. 2. Turn off the router...

Skynet Skynet - Router Firewall & Security Enhancements

Is there a limit on the number of countries that can be banned?

I'm wondering about the very same question ???

    RT-AC86U - 3.0.0.4.384.20467

Stateful IPV6 does not work. When the router is configured for Stateful IPV6 and a reboot is run, the post reboot IPV6 tab shows a LAN IPV6 Address and a LAN IPV6 Prefix. If you run an ipconfig/all to check the connected pc IP address, you will see that the device does not have an IPV6 address...

    Merlin 380.68_2 on ASUS RT-AC66U_B1

Just to note, there is an Asus Version 3.0.0.4.384.20308 available for that router: https://www.asus.com/ca-en/Networking/RT-AC66U-B1/HelpDesk_Download/ That might be why you're seeing the update available symbol flash. But, just to be clear, you can load the RT-AC68U firmware on this router...

Allow a small set of websites to specific devices

You could try adding facebook to the restricted site list in the OpenDNS settings and see if that will let messenger through but block facebook. Of course, that depends on whether or not you also use facebook.

An AiMesh Success Story (after a Velop disaster)

I haven't seen any info anywhere on the number of channels that AiMesh requires, so, short question, how many wifi channels is your network using for the individual routers, forwarding and backhaul? I was reading thru the specs of another mesh network, trying to assist someone, and noted that...

    RT-AC86U .20287?

Yes, it looks like a reboot will wipe out both 2.4 and 5 Ghz wifi time settings. As a result, both networks are available at all times. One other problem that I haven't checked on is the MAC address manual entry located in the WAN .... Internet Connection tab. I used this on the 68U to change...

[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.3 Beta is now available

@Treadler, your reboot observation makes sense, "A router reboot wipes all the time settings from the scheduler." I've been running a router reboot at night after the wifi scheduler deny time was set to take effect, and, it looks like the router reboot, on the latest stock firmware is wiping...

[Beta 384/NG] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.3 Beta is now available

Fwiw, just looking at this and wondering whats up with the wifi scheduler, it appears to loose its settings and revert to all times available for both 2.4 and 5 Ghz. This is with the stock version 3.0.0.4.384.20308. From what I had seen previously in stock version 3.0.0.4.384.10007 it...

    modify AiProtection/Parental Control

I think that as long as you have one of the children's pc's or laptops running the OpenDNS Updater, you should be fine. Without the Updater running, there's no way to connect the account and its preferences to the IP address, unless of course the OpenDNS Family account has an IP address input.

    modify AiProtection/Parental Control

I think that your first assumption was correct, that if the home IP address changes while the updater isn't running, that you would end up with the normal filtering that OpenDNS provides, which should protect you against malicious web sites. You would lose the filtering categories and countries...

    modify AiProtection/Parental Control

Sign up for a freebie account at OpenDNS, which allows you to set various categories to filter. You can also filter countries based on the country code. When that is all done, load the OpenDNS Updater from the site onto one of your computers that runs at home. That updater has an account...

    [Preview] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.3 pre-release test builds

Running the stock Version 3.0.0.4.384.10007, the first three produce the typical warning page. The last links produce a result such as this, which is the last link: wrs91.winshipway.com/ Category: 58(Shopping) WTP Score: 91(Safe) Credibility: 3(Safe) [Obsoleted] By CoreTech WRS team...

Test Ai Protection using the links from the Trend Micro Web Protection test page: https://success.trendmicro.com/solution/1056027-testing-the-web-reputation-feature-in-officescan-osce They don't all produce the warning page, but I haven't looked into it to determine the reason. The warning...

    RT-AC86U 3.0.0.4.384.10007

Observations from fighting with Version 3.0.0.4.384.10007: 1. The capability to manually assign a MAC address doesn't work. This worked very well with previous firmware versions on the RT-AC68U. MAC cloning works. As there are no release notes covering this, I can't speculate if the...

    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.382.18848

I was looking at the UI again last night and found that it wasn't so bad after all. The problem is when you're on the General Tab. With 2.4 Ghz selected, you can see and navigate to all of the other tabs. When you select the 5 Ghz band, the rest of the tabs disappear, so you can't see them or...

    ASUS RT-AC86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.382.18848

Seems to be a few problems with the 18848 build for the RT-AC86U. The 2.4 GHz General tab looks ok, the 5 Ghz General tab and other 5 Ghz tabs are FUBAR. Here's the list: 5 Ghz wifi setting issues: Wireless mode: doesn't show 802.11ac, looks like the 2.4 Ghz selections Channel bandwidth...
