AC87U - Running Java with Entware or Optware

TeHashX - Thanks for the response. I've decided to shelve this particular project (Streambaby on my router). I've concluded it's not a good match for a router. Streambaby is a bit of a pig even on a relatively powerful PC, so going to a lot of trouble to get Java running on the router is not...

    RS232 Serial Port from USB

John - WooHoo - success! Thank you so much for building and supplying that file! This is the command set that ultimately worked: modprobe -r option modprobe usbserial insmod pl2303.ko I tried 'modprobe pl2303.ko' and got "module kl2303.ko not found in modules.dep", so I'm thinking modprobe...

    RS232 Serial Port from USB

TonyH - Interesting idea, but I'm not even aware of an ethernet<->RS232 adapter (if that's what you're suggesting), but it doesn't sound cheap, and then I'd be on the hunt for yet another driver that presents that device to the application as a serial port. RS232 Serial Port from USB

Newbie here, acquired an RT-AC68U a month or so ago, installed AsusWRT-Merlin, currently running 380.64. I've installed entware, and am running Samba, minidlna and pyTivo as media servers (they work great!). My latest project is to get 'heyu' (an X10 home automation package) installed and...

AC87U - Running Java with Entware or Optware

Hopefully it's OK to resurrect an old thread. I'm a newbie here, have recently acquired an Asus RT-AC68U, running AsusWRT-Merlin. I have been busy customizing it to my needs, and so far have installed entware with several packages to enable running pyTivo (a python-based media server for...
