kernel: wl0: random key value: -

I just noticed this on mine. I had 2 devices that have this behaviour. 1 device is a Chinese solar inverter which should be on the network. This loves to reconnect every 20 seconds apparently. I have it on its own guest network with no intranet access. I don't know why it reconnects every 20...

DDNS Shining Lock Exclamation Icon ❗

I imagine the ddns is complaining you have a private ip on your wan interface so your reasons for having ddns may not function as expected.

    Release ASUS RT-AX86 Series(RT-AX86U/RT-AX86S) Firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.21709

I know this was a while back. When ddns detects internal ip on wan a new setting shows up for internal or external ip detection. Internal just uses the ip on the wan interface. External I assume uses stun to a Google server or something. Setting external detection should get the actual...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

It is often not possible for the dns server to come from dhcp. Many devices have hardcoded dns. Dns director also historically did not control all dns queries at all, it only controlled unencrypted dns queries.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

But that is the problem. If you set DNS Director to Router it will block all devices using DoT. That block is new behaviour in 388.1 To catch that FireSticks unencrypted query to 8.8.8.8 we set DNS Director to Router. But then Android devices with DoT become incompatible with the router because...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

For me I had the Asus set to redirect any unencrypted DNS queries to DoT. The unencrypted DNS queries are all I wanted DNS redirection to interact with. The already encrypted DNS queries are fine or atleast unalterable. Since the 388 builds you block without option all DoT from the devices...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 is now available for all supported Wifi 6 models

This assumes the dns redirection was to force users to use a Dns server the admin controls. There is another use case that the admin just wants to force encrypted dns. The dot block actual forces me to have unencrypted dns requests now either when connected via my Asus by not redirecting...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

I have found the geforce now QoS works well and gives me full speed and A+ buffer bloat results on 100mbit/sec connection.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

I just put 388.1_beta2 on my RT_AX86U and it was not noted as changing. But I still find that if DNS Directors redirect to Router is enabled Android devices using Private DNS can not use the wifi from the RT-AX86U. The Android device will simply say the RT-AX86U WiFi has no internet and private...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

Manually adding devices the router blocked to an exclusion list is a temporary work around. Eg my fix at the moment is to entirely stop using dns director.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

Setting dns director global redirection to no redirection instead of router makes my Android device happy.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 Beta is available for select models

My Samsung s20fe running Android 12 now has an issue connecting to my rt-ax86u if Android private dns setting is set to 1dot1dot1dot1.cloudflare-dns.com I get a notification that the WiFi has no internet and private dns cannot be accessed. Android refuses to flow any data to the WiFi even for...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 is now available for all models

IPv4 exhaustion is really coming in quick and fast in Australia. There is few standard residential internet plans not using cgnat already. I imagine another 12 months you will not find a residential plan without cgnat. Most turn to 4g/5g as their failover internet but there is almost no options...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.7 Beta is now available

I upgraded my ax86u from 386.5_2 to 386.7 alpha no cferom then upgraded to 386.7 beta. So only skipped the alpha with cferom update. No brick or jffs issue. By utter luck and chance traffic analysis was disabled and cleared on 386.5_2 and was reenabled at 386.7 beta. Unit details hw 1.0...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 beta is now available

Rt-ax86u In beta 2 Wan ipv6 failed. No external IP was ever set Log had ddns and letsencrypt failure and also Firewall: apply rules error(4619) Beta 3 Wan ipv6 works fine.

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

Asus likely do not want users contacting support because the temperature is reading 71-75C or higher which is normal operating temp.

    [Thread-1] [ 386.1_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Telstra does not use authentication on their NBN services. Just connect the Asus WAN to the Arris. Set Asus WAN for Automatic IP. There is no other requirements. You can also set the ipv6 settings to native.

    [Thread-1] [ 386.1_Alpha Build(s) ] Testing available build(s)

Telstra on NBN HFC does not use authentication. Any ethernet wan port set for dynamic IP would be fine. Some other Australian providers on NBN HFC do use authentication and/or vlan tagging but Telstra does not. If the user has an analog phone service out of a FXS port they want to keep they can...
