Router Used as Smart (managed) Switch

Hello, I'd like to implement some vlans in my home network to isolate a few IoT type devices from the rest of the network. Sticking with the asusmerlin firmware should yield the best wifi experience because of the native drivers. One key difference from most of the posts I've read on the...

Force all devices through VPN (without individual apps/software)

Sounds like you'd need another router device where the openvpn client is configured.

    OpenVPN Server with LAN Only?

On a pc, it's simple enough to leave out the gateway ip address when doing a manual ip assignment. This in essence blocks any traffic to/from the internet. Since the openvpn server is acting as a pseudo dhcp server, I believe there's a way of passing the gateway assignment of say 0.0.0.0 or...

[Beta] Asuswrt-merlin 380.68 Beta is now available

@Odkrys Where are you getting the 382 beta for the ac68u? Edit: Appears if you follow the snb link in post #102, it will eventually lead you to the downloads for the ac68u and ac86u.

    RT-AC68 Media Bridge reconnect issue

It's already scheduled that way. Media bridge is the last network device to reboot. I'm trying to cover bases when for what ever reason it drops the stronger connection. Writing such a script is beyond my ability. It would seem that a watchdog needs to run and monitor for when wl level is...

    RT-AC68 Media Bridge reconnect issue

I don't have to reboot nightly. It's just been a force of habit for a long time to ensure a fresh start, clear up any memory leaks, reset wifi, etc. Even without the restart, this issue can happen if the connection gets dropped for whatever reason.

    RT-AC68 Media Bridge reconnect issue

^^I thought about that too. However, keep in mind, the R7000 also functions as a backup if/when rt-ac68 (A) goes down. I'm hopeful there's some setting in nvram or elsewhere that adjusts these thresholds, or maybe controls roaming aggressiveness.

    RT-AC68 Media Bridge reconnect issue

Network setup: Both RT's are on v380.68_alpha2 Cable modem <ethernet> R7000 (xwrt) <ethernet> RT-ac68 (A) (access point mode) <wireless 5ghz> RT-ac68 (B) (media bridge mode) . The R7000 and RT-ac68 (A) both share the same SSID (2.4=SSIDA, 5.2=SSIDB) but on different channels to allow for...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.62_1 is now available

RMerlin, I too am seeing an issue with printing. The router (ac68u) identifies the printer correctly. Sending a print job after a reboot works without issue. Sending another print job at a later time doesn't seem to go through. Looking through running processes, lpd is present in the list...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.62_1 is now available

Running this build on a asus rt-ac68u. Have weird issues with the usb/samba support. Specifically a fat32 formatted flash drive is in the usb 3.0 port. Nothing on it is accessible if allow guest login is turned off. Windows 8/10 is unable to see any shares nor is prompted for a login. Only...

    380.62_x switching to other firmwares?

If I flash this build, can I still switch to other firmwares such as tomato or dd-wrt? It's clear from the change log that one can't downgrade below a certain version, but what about switching firmware to something else entirely? 380.60 Beta 2 (5-July-2016) IMPORTANT: The firmware image...
