    RT-AX86U (AX5700) router dropping smart home devices every few weeks but Wi-Fi still works

    The only thing (and I just tried it a few days ago) was to set the 2.4GHz band to Legacy mode. All my ESP8266, ESP32, thermostats, and other wireless devices are MUCH happier when the Asus firmware does NOT try to play with N tricks.

    Gnuton Stable: 388.2_2_0-gnuton1 is currently running on my two v2 XT8 units that arrived today. Used the Asus Firmware Restoration utility to flash them, no problems noted so far.

    I would do a full wipe of the router firmware and load Merlin release 388.2_2 using the Asus Firmware Recovery Utility, then configure your router settings as needed. That's the only thing that made my situation any better.
