    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

I have this router for some years without any problems, but always with control channel on auto, and have been on John's fork since it was released but only found these problems a few months ago after moving house and needing to select the control channel.

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

I'm still having these wifi problems... The only way I've found to keep it moderately steady is to leave the control channel on Auto, which is very bad due to interference... I should be using channel 1, which is the best when the wifi is up, but cannot due to these drops...

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

On my case clearly overheating is not a problem as it sits atop furniture with lots of open space around. Also the temperatures on the GUI are about 53ºC, which is quite normal. But I'm curious on your findings. Did you try another power source as suggested above?

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

I came to this conclusion after days and days of experimenting, with lots of trial and error. Maybe there is a problem with the stability of manually selecting channel 1. If more people confirm the problem, maybe @john9527 or @RMerlin can help. Not sure since the wireless driver is closed...

    RT-N66U 2.4Ghz drops, but clients can't reconnect

I have been having this problem also, even with a script to reset wireless everyday at 4h30, and it seems to be related to selecting channel 1 manually for 2.4G. Since I've put it on auto it seems stable, which unfortunately selects channel 6 that has some neighbors on the same channel. The...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

From the logs you suggested it only informs that the router did not respond to the association request: " The Network Diagnostics Framework has completed the diagnosis phase of operation. The following repair option was offered: Helper Class Name: RNWF MSM Helper Class Root Cause: Wireless...

I'm not using the 802.1x security on my wireless connection of my windows device, only WPA2 connections. Regarding the messages, I've not found anything that can lead me to 'real' reason, if you have any advice where to look it would be appreciated. I've just reset again to factory defaults to...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Hi again John, I've already made those 2 changes and the problem persists. It also should not be the windows device as no 2.4GHz device can connect.

One example mentioned earlier: http://www.snbforums.com/threads/rt-n66u-2-4ghz-drops-but-clients-cant-reconnect.24534/ It does not affect only Windows device but affects all the devices connecting to 2.4Ghz band.

Hi @john9527 I've checked this on windows and get the following error: "BSS Type: Infrastructure Failure Reason:The specific network is not available. RSSI: 255" I've also checked on INSSIDER and the Radio is broadcasting, which is very strange. I know that this is happening to other people...

Even after changing the wireless mode to Auto, after a week and a half, the problem happened again. Can you share your script for the wireless restart? Thanks in advance.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

My problem was resolved when I changed to "Auto" mode, which I believe is the mixed you talk about. From what I've read when there is a b/g device attached the performance is reduced to accommodate such devices. It is very strange for a "recent" and premium device, like the Sonos, to not have...

I read some of those threads and found that removing "N only" has resolved the problem, no other occurrences at this time. Hope it solves for other people.

Not at all, it sits atop a furniture without any airflow impediments, it even has a clearance of about one meter in each direction. If it would be temperature, would it not also affect the 5Ghz radio? As this one continues to work perfectly. I can get readings from the tools menu when the...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

I can try again with a windows client but it affects mainly android phones and tablets, PS4 and Wireless Bridge (http://www.netgear.com/home/products/connected-entertainment/gaming-home-theater/wnce4004.aspx) and a Gramofon. With such a wide range of different devices affected I really believe...

I have already tried that when the clients couldn't connect and it did not allow them to connect anyway. Are there some logs I can take when this occurs again? Sent from my TF700T using Tapatalk

I've had that problem before with some clients, so both the SSID and password only have alphanumeric characters.

Answers to both questions: There are no entries on the wireless log at all and the clients still see the SSID but cannot connect to it.

@john9527 It just happened again, even after disabling WMM APSD. I can confirm that no device appears connected on the 2.4 Ghz band. Anything else I can collect to help troubleshoot?
