    AC86U x2 and AC66UB1 AI MESH unstable - 3.0.0.4.384_20648

Sorry for the poor description. I was actually saying I have observed that router devices with Qualcomm wireless have compatibility problems with more devices than those with Broadcom wireless. Nevertheless the huge range of wireless devices (and the quality of their) drivers that people have...

    AC86U x2 and AC66UB1 AI MESH unstable - 3.0.0.4.384_20648

Looking again at your log the crash is talking about IPv6. Do you have IPv6 enabled? I don't so perhaps there is a bug with the IPv6 support so I don't see it. Try disabling it if it is enabled to check.

    AC86U x2 and AC66UB1 AI MESH unstable - 3.0.0.4.384_20648

That is strange. I guess you could have two routers from a batch that have the same hardware fault, it's possible but I think unlikely. I purchased an AC86U after running AiMesh with two older devices for a few days and haven't any problems with it (other than it being the only router I have...

    AC86U x2 and AC66UB1 AI MESH unstable - 3.0.0.4.384_20648

Oh, you managed to capture a crash in the log, well done. That "Feb 14 08:00:18 kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request" is a kernel crash. To be sure, once there is a crash in the kernel the router will not function properly, even if it's non-fatal such as a WARN() and doesn't cause a...

    AC86U x2 and AC66UB1 AI MESH unstable - 3.0.0.4.384_20648

I started with an AC88U and an AC5300 using AiMesh and added an AC86U a little later. I've only recently started trying to use AiMesh but thought you might be interested in my experience. With the AC88U as the main router I had a bunch trouble with a Denon receiver and Sony TV basically failing...

    AC86U x2 and AC66UB1 AI MESH unstable - 3.0.0.4.384_20648

WPS reset isn't related to WPS itself. As I said in my post it's supposed to be used to perform a factory reset to defaults when the router won't boot. But, as I also said, I have found on more than one occasion that it helped with odd router problems when a plain factory reset didn't.

    AC86U x2 and AC66UB1 AI MESH unstable - 3.0.0.4.384_20648

Indeed, is the router crashing? Recently, when I put my AC5300 and AC88U back into service to see how AiMesh was going, the AC5300 was crashing regularly. Clearly a factory reset wasn't helping as that is the first step in AiMesh setup (and often when updating firmware too). Even though...

    AC86U x2 and AC66UB1 AI MESH unstable - 3.0.0.4.384_20648

Assuming the firmware for the 66U (are you sure it's a 66U or is it a 68U) is correct and AiMesh is supported. This might be due to the 86U supporting DFS and using 5GHz wireless channels the 66U cannot change too? I had (what looked like) that problem when trying to use my 86U as the AiMesh...

    AiMesh Node Keeps Disappearing

I don't think this particular setup will work. I tried this and it looks like the 86U supports DFS so it will use 5Ghz wireless channels the 88U and 68U can't use. I'm using a 5300 and an 88U with the 86U and once I made my 88U the Mesh router things started working ok.

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

For me it wasn't so much a workaround as "not disabling WPS" as recommended by the AiProtection check (on the main, ac5300, not the node, ac88u, which was unchanged factory defaults). I don't really know if what I did changed the defaults, I disabled it as per my normal setup procedure then...

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

I noticed, that's kind of annoying as it means firing up a Windows machine to run the recovery (I presume) and locating the recovery download, certainly not ok for test and probably questionable for release firmware. I guess I'll need to locate the recovery download.

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

Hi all, I installed 9.0.0.4_382_17231 on an RT-AC5300 (main) and an RT-AC88U (node) and apart from getting caught by WPS requirement installation went fine. Unfortunately, I need access the main node via an ethernet connection to the node and that was unusably slow which pretty much put a stop...

    Of course, my mistake.

    R7800 New Firmware 1.0.2.12

Can't really say about problems fixed, or new problems, as I haven't used this device for some time. But I did try and put my D7800 back into use and installed the new firmware version to start with. It didn't last long though, because it went so badly. The R8500 as a wireless bridge didn't...

    R9000 as a wireless bridge

Yes, I was wondering about how the higher frequency would go in terms of coverage in a domestic environment. But, same room, line of sight, wireless bridge isn't necessarily an invalid use case. I do acknowledge that a dual 5Ghz device would cover this case, and possibly better than 802.11ad...

    R9000 as a wireless bridge

Hi all, The R9000 isn't available here in Australia yet but I was looking at Wireless bridge setup in the manual. I see that, according to the manual, only the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands are available for selection when connecting as a wireless bridge. That seems a little strange as one reason to...

R8500 Wireless bridge stops forwarding switch ports

Hi all, I have an R8500 set to wireless bridge, a recent change from it being used as my gateway router where it was functioning fine. It's running firmware V1.0.2.80_1.0.71. This firmware was only in use for a short while before changing it to a wireless bridge. I have a problem where, after...

    [Alpha][MU-MIMO] Early preview of 380.59

It doesn't have to be streaming or particularly heavy traffic, but I think it needs to be prolonged. NAS to NAS backup causes it for me, even after restricting throughput to 30MBps. Can't quite remember now but I think I went to 2345 because of this. I'm pretty sure I went back to 1354 after...

Offical ASUS RT-AC88U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.380.2345

I was happy to see the addition of the repeater function. I was also happy to see the well known transparent bridging, usually present with Broadcom devices, also working in this firmware. However, the forwarding in media bridge and repeater modes seems to be broken. A Windows 10 NUC and other...

[Bug] CPU loading is 100% in core 1

Yeah, but that design is vanilla kernel, driver writers use it as it's the recommended way to do it. You'd think so, but perhaps it's done as part of the packet receive, don't know how that stuff fits together.
