Mesh network mixed with AC and AX w/ Ethernet Backhaul

The home plug devices are too slow (around 10 to 20% of stated throughput) except for either a slow internet connection (< ~50mbps) or if both end points are on the same electrical circuit. But, more often than not, you need them in locations that aren't on the same circuit.

Settings to allow AX200 based PCI card to connect to the AX network on AX92u

Sorry, the sarcasm was directed at Intel in that they actually mentioned it and it was correct. I must say I'm not impressed with Intel, dropped support for the AMD graphics in the fairly recent NUC8i7HVK (and probably the NUC8i7HNK) and the instructions for updating the driver said to grab the...

Is there a way to force more channel selections in 5Ghz?

Or not, FWICS ASUS have rationalized the regions so that they get fewer region definitions to support (and probably fewer SKU variants to support) in firmware leading to some regions missing out on some available channels but it's fairly close to what should be available. For example Australia...

Settings to allow AX200 based PCI card to connect to the AX network on AX92u

Odd that it says that both drivers need to be installed on the Intel site for the driver IIRC and it actually is correct!

    Asus XT8 Major WiFi Issues

What makes you think it's a WiFi problem? It looks like a switch (router switch or network switch) port problem (possibly a firmware problem in disguise). Is that a managed switch? Remove the switch from the backhaul connections and re-test.

Asus XT8: Do you enable AiProtection and QoS? And does this have dynamic DNS?

It's been said on the forums that QoS isn't useful if WAN speed is over about 300mbps. If you use QoS one of the hardware acceleration options gets disabled which will affect WAN throughput. But if you have problems with sharing bandwidth it might be useful but the reduction in throughput means...

Devices with manually assigned LAN IP addresses receiving different addresses by DHCP, "multiple clients connected through this device"

I'm was able to get stable reserved IP addresses assigned to devices, I had about thirty. But I also see addresses being sticky, once a device gets an address it appears the DHCP server or the requesting client is unwilling to let the old address go. It's quite frustrating at times but once the...

Devices with manually assigned LAN IP addresses receiving different addresses by DHCP, "multiple clients connected through this device"

You must have iOS 14, right? If so then you need to read up on the new private MAC address feature. You might be able to turn it off for selected networks, I don't know, and I don't have iOS 14.

Can't reach Asus RT-AX58U web admin

You must understand, it's quite hard to understand what's happening from written descriptions and it's equally hard to convey a thorough understanding of a subject with a written description. It sounds like you missed a step in the procedure but it's hard to tell. At the risk of confusing you...

Can't reach Asus RT-AX58U web admin

I can only guess! Using DHCP to ensure you have the correct interface settings often works ok but, particularly when changing router IP address, can be a bit of a problem. Even if you specifically renew the DHCP settings it might not get new addresses etc. But you know what network settings...

Can't reach Asus RT-AX58U web admin

Do you understand why this is causing you a problem, IOW do you understand the meaning of subnet? Before you can begin you need to know what reserved private network addresses are. Have a quick look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network for that. The router has an address range...

    Release XT8 New Firmware 3.0.0.4.386_25790

That's not unlocking 160MHz, it's changing to allow 4x4 instead of only 2x2.

    Very noob question!

Correct from the POV that they have been accepted, yes, but whether this actually works is another question. It's not hard to understand why this can be a problem. Since these rules are meant to provide a way for an incoming connection to reach a device on your network, if you add more than...

    Very noob question!

Yes, a lot of discussions about this don't distinguish between "open" and "forwarded". Generally very few ports need to be open for incoming connections (actually open, with a mapping for incoming connections) and ports that are supposed to be forwarded just work because they are actually only...

Beta ASUSWRT 386 RC2 public beta with full functions AiMesh 2.0

And if the chip manufacturer doesn't update their SDK to keep up with needed changes (perhaps because of chip design) the router manufacturer has no choice but to offer maintenance only support at best.

Can't for my life open port 51413 for Transmission

Yep, and that's why I use a VPN client on the device I run the client myself and tell it the listen IP address and set the interface for external trafic to the VPN interface. And that works fine without any messing around, no surprises there, ;)

Can't for my life open port 51413 for Transmission

What I'm thinking there is there is an interface on the router from which VPN packets "appear" from incoming connections and that interface has a known ip address, and is persistent, and is local. But I don't know how packets get routed to the bridge interface though and I wonder if that...

Can't for my life open port 51413 for Transmission

Mmm ... tried the above myself, and a couple of other things, and I couldn't get it to work either ... I have to wonder what's already setup by the VPN client and whether the "Inbound Firewall" set to allow actually works.

Can't for my life open port 51413 for Transmission

Have you considered that you might need to set a port forward for the source IP address which these packets arrive on? Let me try and explain, your VPN connection has several bits associated with it, the external public address, the VPN provider point to point end address, the router end point...

    x3mRouting x3mRouting ~ Selective Routing for Asuswrt-Merlin Firmware

It's gotta be some sort of change to escaping of the regex between a the test script the the other ... Maybe you have set a shell option in the target script that changes behaviour or try sticking the whole regex in () or ...
