.local is now going out to Spectrum Using a RV320 router

.local is problematic. Bonjour craps all over it and can cause these sorts of name resolution issues. Can you access your switch via DNS from other systems on the network?

Accessing multiple VLANS through a router

Can you let us know what equipment you are using with the edgerouter? It will help us get a better idea of what the equipment is capable of. Also, why does the system have separate VLANs? In general, you don't necessarily need to trunk the port to your endpoint NIC in order to have access to...

Need a good layer 2 Cisco switch with POE+

For home, I don't mind running EOL switches, espeically from cisco, hp, etc, because they will last forever. My lab is all EOL hardware to save on costs.

Need a good layer 2 Cisco switch with POE+

The SG300 series is a pretty good product, but I suspect it would be EOL soon since the rest of the sg300 line was EOL last year. I think the sg250 is just a slight RAM upgrade on the sg200, which is a good switch if you don't mind not having console access.

Advice on setting up 2 routers

I am not sure why both of them need to be routers. You can place the second router in bridge mode (connect the upllink to a LAN port) and won't send out DHCP. another way you can do it is to disable wireless on the router and plug a few access points into the LAN instead.

SoHo/SMB Hardware Firewall (Seeking Recommendations - Accountant)

If low maintenance is preferred, then I would go with a Meraki setup with the enterprise security license. Do you your users need to work from home?

Tool to manage your own Certificate Authority

I have been able to get by using a standard wildcard certificate to secure most things. if only vmware would support wildcard certs in esxi...

Advice on setting up 2 routers

See if you can setup a DMZ on the HH2000. It is not the same as bridge mode, but it would allow you to use another device as a gateway a little easier.

For Sale: Palo Alto Networks PA2050 $100

I recently bought a PA2050 on ebay. I bought the device because I had an upgrade to ATT gigabit and needed a UTM that could handle the throughput. Since my home also functions as a lab for my work, I wanted to try Palo Alto. The device came and is good working order, but a) doesn't fit into my...

    Can I use 1 switch instead of 2 - Home network (TVs&LAN)

I think the set top boxes need to get DHCP leases from the ISP router. Depending on the network setup, this should be fine. But I don't think you can do any NAT and have the STBs work. This scenario is still possible with a managed switch, but you need to know a little bit more about networking...

Open Mesh A40 & A60 Access Points Reviewed

I am soon getting ATT Fiber internet (1gigabit here i come!), my trusty AP-AC v2 is going end of life and so I have been thinking about replacing my APs. I was thinking of buying a few new Ubiquitis, but I have been thinking about Open Mesh because I really like Meraki hardware and I have used...

Home and Office connection, Tunnel, new Switches and Routers

I haven't set this up using that specific hardware, but with the way you are setting it up should be fine. You set up the tunnel and identify each network as part of the same zone and the routers should route only the LAN traffic over the tunnel while internet traffic goes to the internet...

Linksys Announces New Velop and Gaming Router

Airports are very good and I owned several and used the extend network feature. Yes Apple has kept it upgraded and fixed KRACK, but I dont think it is out of line to speculate when they would stop selling it. I'm sure they would do a good job of they pursued it further but it looks like they...

Linksys Announces New Velop and Gaming Router

They said they were not going to be developing it further, but they are still selling the APs themselves.

Linksys Announces New Velop and Gaming Router

Interesting that Apple is now selling the Velop. I wonder if that means the end of Airport.

Adding a Google Home and mini to the mix

Yes, good point, and I should add context. I built out my system about 2.5 years ago. So much has changed now. My house is about 2000 sq ft, and if I was buying now, I would lean towards an Orbi. My previous system was an Aiport Exteme + Airport Extreme extending the network. I am an IT...

Adding a Google Home and mini to the mix

The Unifi hardware is decent. Some of the router / APs may be about as good as the Unifi though. Part of what helps performance is that you get a lot more customization in the software and with PoE, it is much easier to place them in an optimal area. Tough to mount an Asus router on the ceiling...

    Isolating an AirPrinter in Vlan

So when you say you can't connect, are you receiving an IP at all? Does it say you are connected to the SSID? Do you have another device you can plug in directly so you can troubleshoot? Seems like a difficulty thing to be able to fix if you can't look at what is happening on the router or AP.
