Asus RT A68U DNS and connection issues

If you're seeing it on the Surface too, then it sounds like something central - perhaps the Z5 is more sensitive to the issue. Now for total guesses. Could it be an interaction with the ASUS Smart Control shunting the Z5 back and forth from 2.4Ghz to 5Ghz? Does your ASUS router support...

Asus RT A68U DNS and connection issues

There is a lot going in that pcap. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it looks like problems start happening around packet 1803. A TCP session is initiated by your handset that never gets established even though the receiver sends SYN/ACK. The handset continues to retransmit the SYN and...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

As an aside, if you are using Windows, you may need to specifically configure Windows to allow your application to set the DSCP on outgoing traffic as well as choosing the code point in uTorrent. You can confirm if uTorrent is successfully setting the values by inspecting the outgoing packets...

tcpdump is available in the entware packages. You can run it from CLI on your router. /dedd

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

I agree that the set of options is short - at least in the "let's repurpose consumer devices to do something they better than what the manufacturer sells" world. I think the assumption that I want these services built into my router is a bad one. I get that ASUS is trying to expand its piece...

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

Yep. I don't really want to get into a debate about whether they do or they don't. I don't know. What I do know is that ASUS has not said "We DO NOT SELL or SHARE your private information in any way." Like Google's long retired "don't be evil." In the absence of that, the company is certainly...

AB-Solution - The Ad Blocking Solution

Well proof of closed-source ( :) ) yes., and commercializing your data is built into the EULA. Anyone thinking they won't be using this is naive. To be honest, Google is no better, but Google isn't plugged into every single flow my system initiates or terminates. It's bad enough that DNS...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

Yeah I think that was why I was confused earlier too. I'm definitely seeing it go to 0x8014 on 382.1_2. I just disabled FreshJR_QOS and restarted to make sure things were clean and that's what I get. I haven't tried upgrading to anything newer. I installed the same rule as you are...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

Oddly enough on my system the Google TLS traffic is collecting against 0x8014 filter parent 1: protocol all pref 12 u32 fh 803::800 order 2048 key ht 803 bkt 0 flowid 1:10 mark 0x80090000 0xc03f0000 (success 299) -- filter parent 1: protocol all pref 21 u32 fh 801::800 order 2048 key ht 801...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

If brummygit is correct, then ASUS has done something about this in 382.3 and classifying true network protocol traffic as web might be undesirable (or whatever ASUS is shoving in that class in 382.3) Something to watch out for. People can fix their files using dos2unix in the ASUS cli as well.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

That's very interesting. My signature file is 2.050 as well. The mapping info I was looking at is in the /tmp/bwdpi directory. I'm completely guessing at the number that are thinking about (hex 14 == 20 == things in the db files) . Maybe those files aren't updated by a signature file update...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I poked around a little bit. The 0x8014 classification is an indication of the application class. The 8 is direction and the actual category is 0x14 == 20 decimal. You can grep through the db files in /tmp/bwdpi/*.db to get a glimpse of what ASUS is doing. That classification is for Network...

Lol - a huge spike in Net Control. Clearly ASUS is misclassifying that traffic. Probably because it's google.

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

I'm not sure much can be done for you by the tool. The issue appears to be the pre-classification of your traffic. It occurred to me that you can influence that by changing the priority treatment for devices within the GUI. Did you happen to try to prioritize different devices on the...

Release 382.1_2 works well with the script FreshJR published (make sure the file has no odd Dos file problems ... dos2unix). What release were you testing? /dedd

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

Hmm. Yes. The entries you highlighted originally are being classed as category 0 and category 1 traffic. The last digit in the flowid is the "traffic priority" 0 highest, 7 lowest (original default). I don't see anything really wrong in your output. It looks like your filters are...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

medwatt if you include the -B1 flag on your grep it will show you 1 line before the match. That tells you what treatment the traffic is going to (the flow Id at the end of the line.) An efficient version of the command that only shows non zero hits and includes the flow id line would be " tc...

[Release] FreshJR Adaptive QOS (Improvements / Custom Rules / and Inner workings)

Good news. Good news. You can double check that the config is correct by examining the pref 2 filters in your tc filter show dev br0 output (and eth0). You should see that the filter that has the 0x8000ffff goes to in your case I think flowid 1:15 rather than flowid 1:17 .
