    Just do a controlled test. Too close the the wall mounting can have an effect depending on what the is the material of wall. It is all case by case, no general rule.

    Tried with sound card disabled? Is the sound randomly occurring or is there a pattern? Do you live near an airport(think radar). Know how to choke unwanted RF signal using ferrite cores? How about shielding?
