Discussions and setups with QoS (N66U)

He means you have so much bandwidth you should just consider turning off QoS completely and just running hardware acceleration. QoS was really meant for a time when there wasn't enough bandwidth for the things you wanted to do. Right now even on my 50/10 connection, which really runs at...

[Solved] Internet connection sluggish and choppy but not slow.

Disconnect the router and connect your computer directly to the modem. If it still happens then your router is not at fault. Does your modem have a log? Could you post those logs? Could you also post the router's log as well?

    Google play store issue

Did you change the MTU settings? I know that changing it from the default 1500 breaks Google Play as well as a couple other apps for no reason.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.38 is out

I've read that hardware acceleration really only comes into play when your connection speed is really fast ... like 100mbs or more.

unblock-us , dnsmasq and netflix performance

Yeah definitely a problem with Comcast as I can't stream in full HD as well even though I have 50/10 service from them.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 3.0.0.4.374.35 is out

Use the sdk5 version of that firmware and see if that fixes it.

N66U: Is there any way to test custom/old firmwares without breaking warranty

Somebody else on this board was reporting frequent disconnects as well. Their problem was cabling...

ASUS RT-N66U RMelin Build IPV6 help.

Yep, real easy to turn on IPv6 on AsusWRT-Merlin firmware. Connection type: Native DHCP-PD: Enabled Router advertisement: Enabled And don't forget to set your IPv6 DNS servers as well. When it finishes applying the changes, you'll have to power cycle the router to get it back up as it will...

    ASUS RT-N56U TCP cubic?

At least give us Cubic - which is designated as the standard in all recent linux kernels.

What is the difference between SDK5.X+ and non-versions?

    1. Maybe. But always a good idea to wipe out problems before they start. 2. There are two firmware types: SDK5 and SDK6. Depending on which router you have, one or the other will be better for it and they primarily have to do with the wireless driver being used in the kernel. 3 & 4...

    ASUS RT-N56U TCP cubic?

Still ... can we get Cubic support on the RT-N66X? :D

Did you change any router settings at all or just the location of the router?

    ASUS RT-N56U TCP cubic?

cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_congestion_control cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_allowed_congestion_control cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_available_congestion_control all yield reno as well as dmesg | grep reno yielding TCP Reno registered I know Cubic has been made the default for linux kernels for a...

    ASUS RT-N56U TCP cubic?

Yeah, the TCP congestion protocols need to be built in in order for you to switch to them. I only wished Merlin would include support for Cubic/Vegas in his builds. One of the few things I loved about DD-WRT, the amount of configurability it had.

RT-N66U - wireless on Android & iOS very unstable

You should definitely use the SDK5 firmware version. Personally that's what I use and I have rock solid stability with 35-2 SDK5.

    ASUS RT-N56U TCP cubic?

Check out this thread on activating and deactivating TCP congestion control protocols: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=28816

    Android Devices?

Could be that its showing you the registered addresses of both the 2.5ghz and 5ghz wireless interfaces.

    SPI and DMZ

If I remember correctly SPI is part of the firewall so you just can't turn off one aspect of the firewall. While it is true that the firewall does add a few milliseconds of latency, it's benefits outweigh turning it off completely.

My way of increasing signal strength

You get better returns tweaking your wireless settings to account for a crowded neighborhood, the structures surrounding the router, etc. As well as the placements of the antennae all without the risk of burning out your radios.

    IPv6 and dnsmasq

That's how the router's firmware is setup. 192.168.1.1 is the router itself. I don't think the router will ever have an IPv6 address.
