    I had some issues with one of dell chromebook with smart Connect in beta5, but now in release version even with smart connect all my devices are working just fine, and its been rock solid. Thanks to @RMerlin for a great code and @L&LD and others for helping us with troubleshooting!

    This was another browser compatibility issues. Just before I followed @L&LD advice and do a firmware recovery tool, I tried in actual Chrome browser instead of my default edge (which too is based on same Chromium code). Looks like Asus tested this page only with Chrome, and with chrome it worked...

    I don't think it is directly from @RMerlin branch, but AiMesh 2.0 and Smart Connect seems to have some problems in routing clients to proper nodes/bands. I have ac-3100 as main and a ac-86u as mesh node. I had Smart Connect enabled since beginning and with old 384 code all my devices were happy...

    Thank you @ColinTaylor , it does makes sense, and changing "Wan: Use local caching DNS server as system resolver (default: No)" to Yes worked with host names.

    Thank you for the pointers. I did replace the cable and after 2 reboots it came back with 1gbps. I am still using a flat cable, but a different one. I should have thought of switching the cable before posting here.

    Thank you.. I can confirm this approach works superbly on my ac-86u running as mesh node. PS> Using the UI I also noticed that ssh key actually gets copied over from main router to node too. SO you can use password free logins as long as you remember to pass the key from putty.

    I can confirm that ssh into mesh node works. But setting nvram parameters directly using shell is whole another level of expertise.
