Total Connection Minutes By IP Address

Thanks. That's a start. I'm really only interested in the long running connections. (I'm aware that HTTP times-out connections.) I could write a script to run once a minute and send the data to a server or to a USB drive. Assume that ESTABLISHED state on same IP and ports was connected...

Total Connection Minutes By IP Address

    I'd like to report total minutes connected by IP address each day. e.g. 37:07 8/22/2017 12.34.56.78 18:02 8/22/2017 23.45.67.89 45:06 8/23/2017 12.34.56.78 12:02 8/23/2017 23.45.67.89 I'm sure I'll have to do some post-processing of the raw data. Can I get Asuswrt-Merlin to collect the raw...

    Phantom DNS

I'm getting DNS behavior I can't explain. Can someone tell me what is happening? I ping kevin.kpk, it pings 104.239.207.44 I ping stanley.kpk, it pings 104.239.207.44 I ping kevin.kpk1234eueueueueueueueueueueueueueueue, it pings 198.105.244.130 My router's domain name is kpk, but there is...

    More Logging for WiFi Events?

Reporting back: After changing 5 GHz Wireless to "N only", I've been stable for a little over 3 weeks. However, after being up for 3 weeks, it stopped routing between the 2 GHz and the 5 GHz access points. That was cured with a restart. There's no two ways around it -- this router just isn't...

    More Logging for WiFi Events?

If I can figure out how, I may write a watchdog to restart 5GHz WiFi if no client is visible for 60 seconds. (I have clients which should be visible 24x7.) If I can't make it stable, I'm going to write off the ~$300 and run over it with my car! A user on Amazon suggested disabling Airtime...

    More Logging for WiFi Events?

Fudge. The issue is back. I'm still using factory firmware. 5 GHz simply vanished 4 times in a 24-hour period. I made no changes in the week leading up to the failures. 5 GHz can be brought back to life by making a change to 5 GHz config and applying it or by restarting the router. 2.4 is...

    More Logging for WiFi Events?

Currently: 3.0.0.4.380_7266 Merlin was RT-AC88U_380.65_2.zip (my issues were before 65_4 was released).

    More Logging for WiFi Events?

Results are still preliminary. I can't say exactly which change fixed it. Restored to factory firmware and factory default settings and made only the absolute minimum changes and my 5 GHz has been stable since 4:24 PM on March 26. It could have been the factory firmware; it could have been...

    More Logging for WiFi Events?

Hmmm... I was seeing increasingly frequent crashes -- every few days, then every day, and then twice on Sunday. On Sunday afternoon, I re-loaded factory firmware, did a reset to factory defaults, and the ONLY changes I made to default configuration were to assign some modest passwords. I've...

    More Logging for WiFi Events?

Understood. Is there a particular process which *should* be active when 5 GHz is enabled? At the very least, I could run a shell script to track if/when that process dies.

    More Logging for WiFi Events?

How do I enable logging of WiFi events? I have an intermittent issue with 5 GHz WiFi on my AC88u. Once or twice a week, all 5 GHz clients disconnect. The 5 GHz SSID disappears from clients' list of SSIDs, and when I run a site survey from my cell phone, my Asus 5 GHz SSID is not listed. If I...

    nopool option OpenVPN Server

Of course. That's how I knew it had both "server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0" and "server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0 nopool". What config.ovpn doesn't clarify is which one is defined to "win" when OpenVPN loads them. Empirically, today, with the version included with Merlin 308.65_2, it appears to...

    nopool option OpenVPN Server

@Martineau - Thank you for your reply. I can't tell whether you are calling my attention to the "Manage Client Specific Options" or to the "Custom Configuration" field, or both -- I'll assume both. Whether I set "Manage Client-Specific Options" to Yes or No, config.ovpn contains "server...

    nopool option OpenVPN Server

In a 2008 change log, I see Now, for example, we can configure thusly: server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0 nopool ifconfig-pool 10.8.0.2 10.8.0.99 255.255.255.0 Is there a way to get "nopool" added to the server directive via the GUI, or do I have to stop using the GUI to go here? I need to...

Once a CRL, Always a CRL?

I pressed Default and then Apply on the main VPN window, after emptying the fields in the Keys and Certification window. I also tried doing that and deleting the files in /etc/openvpn/server1. I'm aware that I can create a valid CRL and paste it. I'd like to find some way to set OpenVPN back...

Once a CRL, Always a CRL?

I wanted to practice using a CRL, to ensure I knew how it worked. So I put a CRL in the "Certificate Revocation List (Optional)" field of OpenVPN setup. It blocked the certificate, as expected. Then, I rebuilt my OpenVPN setup from scratch with a new CA. Since I didn't have any certs to...

Was my router's username and password hacked?

Did this ever get solved? I've a couple of other points to raise, if not. They may or may not be related. I've seen a number of posts suggesting that closing off access from the outside internet should make you safe. Netgear had a big vulnerability in December, where a web page with an...

    Merlin Capabilities By Router Grid

Somewhere, once, I saw a grid showing ASUS router models, Merlin's software's limits, whether stock or Merlin was faster on that feature. I can't find that grid now. Any pointers? I've been happy with Merlin on my N66U, but before I load it on my AC88U, I want to check to see which (whether)...

Port Forwarding Intermittent UDP, Great TCP

Interesting. If I connect to the external IP of my RT-N66U from inside the LAN, UDP is unreliable. If I connect to the external IP from outside the LAN, UDP is reliable. So out-and-back drops frames but from-out-to-in doesn't. I suspect this to be caused by the VPN software and not the router.
