ASUS RT-AC86U Dual Band AC2900 Wireless Router Reviewed

Just got the 86U and really liking it. One question. Seems like my 5.0 connection seems to only connect at 866mps, and 2.4 and 300mbps. I have the new Aero 15x V8 with the Killer 1550 card. Are there specific setting I need to be enabling on either/both to get the higher Wifi speed? Thanks!

    AC68U - Google Fiber and WAN-LAN Throughput

Yes, here in San Antonio they came in internet-only, so there's no need for advanced configuration stuff involving VLAN tagging, etc. Because of that, instead of the fiber box, they're providing 1 Google WiFi device, which functions like a standard run-of-the-mill router. The rep told me I can...

    AC68U - Google Fiber and WAN-LAN Throughput

Thanks for the suggestions. Looks like I may bite the bullet and get an 86U and make do without the extra ethernet ports. Unless they maybe release something with those newrr specs and 8 ports by the time I get it. I'm still waiting til I have GF regardless to make sure it works as expected. If...

    AC68U - Google Fiber and WAN-LAN Throughput

Hmmm.. is there any other site to test it for a bit longer then? Not that'll be using full gigabit 24/7. And I made a mistake, its not Home its a single Google Wi-Fi. Has 2 gigabit ports, so I'd have to get a switch in my setup, requires a constant connection to Google to function, and blocks...

    AC68U - Google Fiber and WAN-LAN Throughput

Hi there! I live in San Antonio, and after speaking with a GF rep, they expect I'll have service by the end of the year (they are 3 block away right now). I also asked and confirmed with the rep, that I can use my own router without issues since they only provide a Google Home router here...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.62_1 is now available

Ah, guess i'll have to do that then. Is there some minimum amount of time i have to hold down the reset button for a factory reset? I've only used the software interface for that on this router. Thanks!

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.62_1 is now available

I've always used 192.168.1.1 as the address. And it worked fine right after the firmware upgrade since I logged in and checked to make sure all the settings looked good.

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 380.62_1 is now available

Hi there, I seem to be having the same login issue Kiripe was having back in page 4. Everything seems to be working fine on all devices, wired and Wifi, but I can't login to the admin page. I get the login prompt, and after that it just sits there waiting to load and eventually times out. I've...

RT66U Firing ARP-Requests all day (Waking my Synology NAS from Sleep)

ah, is it baked into the firmware itself then? the changelog made it seem like it was something I had to toggle to address the issue.

RT66U Firing ARP-Requests all day (Waking my Synology NAS from Sleep)

Hi there! I've been running into this issue as well, so I'm glad to see the fix. I saw this for in the changelog for 380.58: Added Tweaks and Hacks settings to Tools -> Other Settings. These are UNSUPPORTED tweaks, intended mostly for experimentation, or very specific...

    WAN Speed Issues

Oh, it's been in bridged mode since the day I got it. Wasn't gonna let myself get double natted. And I went in to verify last night that it was still in bridged mode, and still good on that end.

    WAN Speed Issues

Sorry it took me this long to reply, been at work all day. Managed to find a laptop at work with a gigabit port and brought it home. These are the tests I've run right now: Work laptop connected to router: DL 320mbps Work laptop connected to modem: DL 420mbps Work laptop connected to D-Link...

    WAN Speed Issues

Just tried both of them. Separately and together, and no dice. Is there something that may have changed on my machine that only affects it when on a router for some reason? Because I had made absolutely no changes to the router when this started happening, and I was getting the full 400 before...

    WAN Speed Issues

I've done more than enough reboots over the course of my tests, so I've definitely tried that. And would a new modem help me? It seems like it is getting the full speed since plugging in the PC directly to the modem gets me the full 400. I've done tests where I run it through the router and...

    WAN Speed Issues

Hi guys, New member here. Read posts over the years with other issues and found them very helpful. I'm finally at my wits end on this one, so I figured it was time to join in :). Over the last week I noticed a decline in my speedtests. I have 400/20, and I used to always get that (usually...
