Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

On my AC2900 this new build only generates more CPU heat and thus wear and tear, while i see no obvious advantage over 384.19. 384.19 is already very good at its job and it's hard to beat a winner ;-)

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Running B4b on my AC2900. -Clients on Guest networks 1 on both 2,4 and 5Ghz still can't access internet. They obtain ip-addresses from the 192.168.101.xxx and 192.168.102.xxx range resp.. No probs on Guest networks 2 for both freqs. -CPU temp with both "Cpu Wait" and "EEE" enabled +/- 5...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Are you sure you have the latest? I've read there's a beta 4b version out. It should be under test versions.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

    It is enabled on 384.19.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Is it possible to change EEE on B4b and set it to enabled, just to see if CPU temp drops a little more?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

I have and it was as expected :)
  7. Kees17760

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta (stage 2) is now available

Just for my info. Is the filename called "services-start" and placed in folder "jffs/scripts" or is called "cpuwait" and placed in folder "jffs/scripts" (if so, how is it called upon in latter case)?

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

    I see no explanation

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Asus nor any other manufacturer wants their products to last a lifetime. They're meant to drop dead just outside the warranty period, so you can buy another.

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

I know there's a ton of possible fans and even complete sets out there, but i found it fun to do it myself with the stuff i had laying around the house :)

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Here's the colour code: Red: The wire in red is used to pass positively-charged electric power. It has 5V direct current electricity. Black: The wire in black is the ground wire. White: The wire in white is used for positive data (D+). Green: The wire in green is used for negative data (D-)...

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Did so too a few months back. Decreased the CPU temp by ~10-15 degrees Celsius

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

I'd prefer to call it Work in Progress

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

After a few hours clients on both guest networks 1 could not access internet anymore, without unusual messages in system log. No way to reconnect them without router reboot. Anyway... I'm back on 384.19 and a low(er) CPU temp :)

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 386.1 Beta is now available

Beta 3 is running fairly smooth on my AC2900 (incl. Client networks 1 on 2,4 and on 5 GHz) Strange thing is CPU temperature, it's reads about 15 degrees Celsius higher than it did on 384.19 without workload. Wifi temps seem OK.

    Is my AC86U toast?

Does that also apply to the AC2900's? I know it's basically the same router, never understood the difference. Ain't much i can do anyway, as it's running fine :)

    Is my AC86U toast?

There's only the year (2018) and no country. Should i be concerned?

    Is my AC86U toast?

I have an AC2900. Is there any way to tell where and when it's made (via command line or so)? Can't find the box anymore.
