Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

I saw you post previously and I had fixed my WiFi channel as well as disabling the type of beamforming and Mu MiMo, as well as other settings suggested to aid the issue. Still this morning the 2.4Ghz radio simply stopped transmitting or receiving, the SSID still being broadcast. For me this only...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

I thought that it was interesting as well, with what the support agent noted. He even referred to a call that he took himself a few days ago from a 86U user with the same issues being reported, regarding WiFi problems since using the latest firmware. Whether it has any merit with the recent...

ASUS rt-ac86u stops broadcasting 2 ghz

That's why I replied in this thread. Noting that yours' is doing the same thing. Going back to a previous firmware might or might not resolve the issue. But I have now got a reference number to return it back to Amazon authorised by Asus. if needed. That is at least something. I don't need to...

ASUS rt-ac86u stops broadcasting 2 ghz

I was hoping that my AC86U, bought in Nov 2017, would have a three years warranty (UK) as mine has recently started to fail only on the 2.4Ghz radio... regardless of hard reset and manually entering settings every few days it seems that the 2.4Ghz radio will still show its SSID but nothing...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Sadly the 2.4Ghz radio only lasted a couple of days..... Setting it this time to a fixed channel was enough to get the radio working again. I will try the default firmware just to test that. I assume that can be flashed without issue over Merlin's....? I have never used the std firmware but...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

^^^^ thanks for the idea, I have given it a go and now will just wait and see what happens within the week. Not sure what the change brings, hoping for stability...!

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

The last time this happened, 2.4Ghz radio shows all devices connected but nothing works, nothing new can connect, following a WPS type reset and manually entering details, my 2.4Ghz radio lasted for over 4 days before this same error occurred. It has just happened again and can be seen in the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Yes, but there might have been changes to the WiFi not applied in this custom firmware that might have been noticed when compiling. As it is largely "closed" to making any changes it was unlikely but worthy of a question.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Thanks. That, for me, has been the only aspect giving me some issues.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Did anything change in regards to the Wi-Fi from the .18 to .19 release for the Ac86U router...? Thanks.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Do you apply any settings to your WiFi apart from the usual SSID and password.? Great that it has been stable for you.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Morning arrives and problem still the same as noted above. Disabled the 2.4Ghz radio and reenabled it. All the devices that were still connected remained so but this time the wireless connection works.... no need to reboot the router, per se, just a matter of resetting the 2.4Ghz channel...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Typical, since I last posted that all has been well for the best part of four days, actually 4 days and six hours, an issue has occurred that did so last time. None of my 2.4Ghz wi-fi devices can now connect. The Wi-Fi connection page looks like..... those devices that can't flip over to the...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

I decided to try 384.19 again, having had this AC86U router for just short of three years, and using Merlin's firmware from then, this is the first release that has given me issues. Regardless of my previous attempts, which included formatting, mounting and no restore of the JFFS partition there...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Not sure, but could be possible of course. I am tempted to try again as all has seemed well for some time now with 384.18. If it was hardware I would expect similar issues regardless of firmware revision. But if I do change to 384.19 I'll do as I did previously with a format, reset and manually...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

I did similar to you, with a full format of the JFFS partition and then a full reset. Manually entering my details was simple, I merely use a VPN client. However wireless client dropouts happened enough for me to be concerned, on devices that had previously been very stable. Nothing was showing...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Thanks, after further "anomalies" whilst using the 384.19 firmware I have returned to the previous 384.18. As you will be aware the JFFS partition is then restored to 48mb. I did back that up but as I only use this firmware to run a VPN client it was easy enough for me to do a factory reset...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Thanks, I did see a warning about downgrading from 384.18 to earlier builds in the release notes but nothing about this one. Good to know that it should be fine to do so.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 384.19 is now available

Is it possible to change back to 384.18 without issue, on my RT-86U...? Just understanding that one of the changes to 384.19 the JFFS partition was reduced in size. So going back to the previous firmware will be ok and no need to consider the JFFS partition as it will remain at 47mb...? Thanks
