vpnmgr vpnmgr - Manage and update VPN Client configurations for NordVPN and PIA

Any chance of supporting Mullvad VPN ? They ended their 3 hour trial last year, but I do month to month with them and change account numbers each time, so if it would help, I could just give you my number. It's got a few weeks left on it that you could use to test with...

(Asus AC86u / Merlin 384.16) OpenVPN client not saving cert file

Yeah, thanks for the suggestions @K-2SO, I do think there are some issues here that should be addressed, but none are really showstoppers for the Asus line for me. I have had years of faithful service from them, with just a few bugs that are most likely result from my own tinkering and trying to...

Yeah, it was pretty unusual to see the Asus community so lethargic toward an issue that could foreshadow more serious hardware problems. more

(Asus AC86u / Merlin 384.16) OpenVPN client not saving cert file

Try selecting Format JFFS on Next Reboot, hit Apply, and then reboot. When it comes back up, reboot again without reformatting JFFS. Please post if this fixes it. This is a very annoying problem, and it would be interesting to hear that the same fix worked for someone else.

OT - surviving pandemic from personal experience (no trolling, PLEASE)

True that. A person can only stagnate so long before either giving in to brain rot, or giving the grey matter some exercise. IPv6 subnetting isn't exactly rocket science, but it is more thought than watching Trailer Park Boys. UI/UX design must be fascinating. It must be a combination of tech...

OT - surviving pandemic from personal experience (no trolling, PLEASE)

I managed to get so bored that I decided to get a couple I.T. certifications. They are of no real use to me careerwise, but I figure if the kids in the PC room have them, maybe I should too. A+ was easy, except having to memorize some things that have changed in the past 30 years - PC form...

SSH connection fails from some IPs

Would anyone mind taking a peek at this configuration and log and mention if you see anything that would prevent SSH from letting me connect from some (internal) addresses and not others? A way to look at banned or blocked IP addresses, maybe. The connection fails from a Docker container that...

Unable to stream camera out of LAN, have done loads before.

Okay, first, congrats, what you are doing is absolutely superior, IMHO. Question 1: You can leave the client connected, or connect to it on-demand. You could even use the Android app Tasker to automate some of the opening. Question 2: Yep, you can load multiple files, and just tap on the one...

    x3mRouting x3mRouting ~ Selective Routing for Asuswrt-Merlin Firmware

I seem to keep bungling a simple configuration of x3mRouting, would anyone be willing to nudge me in the right direction? I have several VPNs set up in Merlin. One provides access to cameras, one is a VPN provider I use for privacy. The cameras are accessible from every machine on my LAN, but...

Problems with ESP8266 devices using Merlin (RT-AC68U)

I had this same issue with Tasmotized gadgets a while back, and ultimately just bought a few cheap WiFi extenders for 8266 things to connect to. Turned RF power down to minimize interference, and everything worked swimmingly. Just last week, while doing an unrelated experiment, I connected a...

    Sold Out

Kinda sad how so many things turn political these days, and from there, they devolve into fist fights. "What, Ham and pineapple on pizza??!!?" [Gun magazine bolt clicks back, safety snaps off]

Automating a home water main shutoff valve

Yes, you can easily flash everything back. One of my houses will be going on the market, once things clear up and the time is right, and I would not have outfitted it the way it is otherwise. I *think* that it will be a feature rather than a hindrance to have a fully self-contained...

Automating a home water main shutoff valve

Yup, some brilliant folks put together a set of Python scripts (called Tuya-Convert) that pretty much automate the flashing process, so that it can be easily done over the air, instead of physically probing the hardware. My two cents, which is worth less than $0.01: Decide what you want to do...

If you use Alexa or Google Assistant, read this

I know exactly two bits less than nothing about the Apple ecosystem. Grew up on the ][+ with a 300 baud AppleCat (TSPS / Cat's Meow!) modem and Applesoft BASIC (and 6502 - CALL -151 anyone?) but ever since the late 80s, the "Beagle Brothers" days, Apple have become more of a fashion statement...

If you use Alexa or Google Assistant, read this

It isn't really about them being directly compromised by hackers, it is a about having a monolithic corporation like Amazon have access to tremendous analytics and personal information that is gathered by that device. Being a gigantic employer, this means that you are not just trusting Amazon...

Unable to stream camera out of LAN, have done loads before.

OK, sorry about that. I was hoping you would get it. You could just put the DDNS into the TinyCam scan field, it doesn't necessarily have to be on the same local network. If the proper ports are open, it will work. Just holler if you feel like taking another shot at it. I really do understand...

...then go into TinyCam, select Scan Network and pull down the menu in the upper right and select Advanced Scan and input the camera info like in this picture. That will let TinyCam automatically configure itself for that camera. Do this for all of your cameras, and you should be good to go.

Here you go, maybe this helps. Just do exactly that for all cameras, except increment 55400 to 55401, 55402 etc for each one. And hah, I have been filling quarantine time by tinkering with IoT and home automation, just getting my feet wet with it. I am at the point where I have to install some...
