Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

Is Is there a down side to Vanced? I kinda like the dark theme. And SmartTube has no ads on TV sets. YT ads blocked by Diversion is awesome, it makes the ad-free experience available to family members using stock devices. But Vanced is cool...

    Sold Out

Holy dyslexia, mate, my bad entirely, thanks and apologies. Sometimes I wonder how I tie my shoes, but then I remember - the trick is hanging around people much smarter than me, and listening when they point out my many errors.

    Sold Out

Just to be clear, I am talking about 86U vs 68u. I don't have numbers, but when I bought my first 86u, VPN speed was several times faster, enough that I would even call it dramatic. But yeah, I would pick an 86u or 88u over the AX89 just for Merlin alone.

    Pros/Cons of enabling IPv6

And I am literally wearing a LebowskiFest tshirt. I should be ashamed, but a White Russian will fix it.

Diversion Diversion - the Router Ad-Blocker

This is awesome! Google often do turn April showers golden, as any Android user who has battled triggering Safety Net can attest. Hopefully they are content enough with their ad delivery success rate that fighting fixes isn't worth their effort.

    Pros/Cons of enabling IPv6

That list of IPv6 only sites was all the motivation I needed. An opportunity to play Loops of Zen, are you kidding? ;) My ISP supports native IPv6, and I used a Dual Stack config for quite some time. I disabled it for the same reason that I don't have ten credit cards - more attack surface with...

    Sold Out

Not to go off-topic, but are there many WiFi 6 clients available yet, or are people just future-proofing and upgrading by attrition?

    AC86U vs AC68U

I have both, and the 86u has considerably better range (in my specific circumstances). Also, if you use a VPN on the router, you will notice great improvement in speed with the 86u. IMHO it is worth the extra money.

OpenVPN Android Client is leaking my IP?

What is the VPN DNS set to? Do you have IPV6 enabled, and does your VPN provider support it?

    ISP DNS HIJACKING

Maybe I misunderstand. Your VPN works, but it is too slow, so instead of the VPN, you are trying a "SmartDNS" service? Does this smart DNS also mask your outgoing IP with some sort of proxy? What specifically is telling you that DNS hijacking is responsible for Hulu blocking?

RT-AX56U OpenVPN connected but no route | Public IP unknown

Do you mean like this? (75.254 is the local router). With this setting, the VPN reported connected, but I couldn't reach clients. Lately, MQTT won't talk both ways, so it is likely something else (that I did) is botched too.

"Espressif Inc" shows up as connected device on my Asus router

It will be any one of many devices with an 8266 chip. Even after flashing them with Tasmota firmware, they still show up as manufacturer Expressif and hostname tasmota-xxxx. This is off topic, but if you have such devices that use the Tuya or SmartLife app, you owe it to yourself to Google a...

    ISP DNS HIJACKING

Ohhhh, you use a "SmartDNS" your VPN provides to escape geographic restriction, but EE are forcing you through their servers which Hulu then detects. Is the VPN DNS set to Exclusive?

RT-AX56U OpenVPN connected but no route | Public IP unknown

My site to site VPNs now say Unknown when it used to report an IP. It doesn't seem to matter, so I never bothered to ask why, but it is a fairly recent development. It could easily be something I did though, as a tinkerer, I am a lousy test subject.

    ISP DNS HIJACKING

Does your VPN or SmartDNS provider support DNSSEC? If so, you might be able to just enable it. Is it possible to set up the DNS on your streaming device(s) and use DoT or Unbound on the router itself? You could also make an exception for the streaming devices. Just a thought, you know best...

    ISP DNS HIJACKING

You could enable DNSSEC, and use a set of public servers that you trust. Enable DoT too. Or you could install Unbound from amtm, and rely on root servers.

    Ai Protection: Vulnerability Protection

This may not help at all, but is it possible for you to do a quick vulnerability scan of the devices on that network? Many ONVIF cameras are easily exploitable, and if it is accessible externally, for example through a forward or P2P access being enabled, it could have been compromised. Sadly...

AiProtection - does anybody know what information is leaving?

Yep, like K-2SO said, it is pretty easy to replace the functionality AI Protect claims to provide with other free scripts. It is really easy to set up, and this is a fantastic group of people, so you can get help setting it up, if need be. Rgnldo also just released a Suricata port for the Asus...
