Dual Wan Failover - Individual WAN VLAN settings needed

I have been ripping my hair out for the last two hours or so (ok - not much hair left anyway...) and hope someone here is smarter than me: I am trying to setup Dual WAN Failover (either the native Asus method or the Dual WAN Failover Script posted in another thread here). My Problem is: The...

FlexQoS FlexQoS 1.3.2 - Flexible QoS Enhancement Script for Adaptive QoS

I hope you don't mind me jumping in: I just switched from my old and trusty RT-AC68P to the RT-AX86U. FlexQoS is only working properly for me if I disable Flow Cache manually To do so I added the command fc disable to firewall-start in /jffs/scripts With Flow Cache enabled the router...

Asuswrt-Merlin is now 10 years old!

Thanks so much for 10 years of making my Asus Routers work like magic - whenever I run a Windows update I always dread it - whenever I apply a new AsusMerlin version to my router I am looking forward to it...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available

Are there any changes for the RT-AC68U in this version vs 386.5_beta1? I am asking because my sluggish performance when having lot's of small packet connections running came back. I then downgraded back to 386.5_beta1 and ran exactly the same traffic again and the problem is gone... While I...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available

Smooth dirty flash from 386.5_beta1 on my RT-AC68P - all is well with my router thanks to @RMerlin fantastic work!

Why doesn’t internet traffic show anything on RT-AC68U?

and Very strange - we even have the same Router (RT-AC68P here - but that's the same as the AC68U just different CPU speed). I am running 385.5 beta 1 - but I also had all previous releases installed when they came out and never experienced the problem you are seing

Why doesn’t internet traffic show anything on RT-AC68U?

I somtimes have to hit 'logout' and then login to the router again for traffic to show on the overview pages. This has been ongoing since forever for me - I always wrote that off as something weird with login cookie handling vs my Firefox browser.... Try that and see if it works

    386.5 Alpha1?

I started typing something similar yesterday and then promptly forgot about it but here it is: Alpha 1 seems to be better with my RT-AC68P and FlexQoS under high QoS load scenarios: I have 120/18 speed and activities with lots of small packets can max out the processor on download when QoS is...

ASUS RT-AC86U ICMP ipv6 incoming pings

With native IPv6 every device has it's own IP. The IP you are pinging is your PC and not the router. You should be able to reach the router by what you see under LAN IPv6 Address in the IPv6 Tab If you use any settings other than Native with Prefix Delegation I am not sure how that would work...

    386.5 Alpha1?

Dirty flash on my RT-AC68P about an hour ago. Using FlexQoS with custom configuration and a bunch of reserved DNS entries. About 10 minutes into a stress test and all working well. Will update in case I run into any issues.

    386.4 WAN + Ethernet ports 100Mbps

I have a somewhat similar observation on my RT-AC68P: Last week I had the WAN port drop to 100Mbps a couple of times - it seemt to coincide with a short loss of WAN connectivity according to the Log - not sure what triggered it - I could not find any suspicious entries in the Cable Modem Log...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 is now available

Same here on my AC68P - no issues with wired or wireless clients either (7x 2.4Ghz and 10x 5GHz connected and stable).

How to reduce Jitter on the internet?

Test wired to rollout wirless bandwidth/channel issues. If it only happens during high load get QoS setup (I use FlexQoS - see the threads here). If it happens regardless of load it's your ISP or their routing and not much you can do about.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 386.4 is now available

I have 6k NVRAM free - no DHCP reservations but a bunch of custom settings in FlexQoS... Try reset and manually reentering everything and see how much you have free - there is a good chance it will be ok for now...

best way to backup settings before factory default?

If you simply reload your backup that won't help to avoid problems. You would need to not reload any backup but instead enter everything manually. I only do it when there are problems: I have been on Merlin releases for as long as I can remember (the time before is not worth remembering..) and...

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

It also shows as forever on eth0. Is there a way to show how long the single IPv4 on eth0 is valid for - I'd be curious to see if it's also forever as I don't remember every seeing any renewals happening except when the whole eth0 drops? (my linux shell is getting a bit rusty with old age...

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

Correct on the parent's ISP. Hmmm - Good question on my own security. I am assuming (maybe naively?) that my Asus Router Blocks all unsolicited IPv6 traffic like it does for IPv4....

Dual Stack home network pros and cons

I need IPv6 here in the US to connect to my parents network... Thankfully Comcast has native IPv6 so I am running full IPv6 and IPv4 here... In Germany 1und1 only offers native IPv6 and does Carrier grade NAT for IPv4. I believe all new connections from T-Mobile are also IPv6 only....
