    Asus RT-AC86U - Abysmal wireless settings @default

First thing to do is to determine WiFi contention with other WiFi. I use WiFi Explorer on my mac to determine who else is in my airspace and set the channels of my ASUS to avoid channels highly used and/or used by someone nearby. My signals have the tallest square wave. If the Verizon Fios...

Cannot access a specific website from ASUS router behind bridged router/modem

My understanding is that you tried 1-3 one at a time. If that’s the case, then there’s probably not a DNS issue. Not ideal but I used successfully for many years until I moved to a different ISP a year ago and it was no longer required. Bridging with my former ISP caused several issues for me...

Cannot access a specific website from ASUS router behind bridged router/modem

Have you tried not using bridged mode? Try not using the ISP DNS server and instead use Google DNS or OpenDNS on your AC68U.

    RT-AC86U - slow speeds.

Your issue is with the throughput speed but you don’t say what the physical connection speed is between the AC86U and your modem. Refer to lower right corner of Network Map screen. It should say 1 Gbps. You state “... have relegated it to a repeater upstairs.” Please power off the N66U and...

    Connection Drops after New Modem

Is it the chicken or the egg????? Did Comcast reset the modem because of the aggressive behavior of the router? Comcast can do that. Or did the modem reset out of the blue causing the error? Humor me.... Change the setting to normal.

    Connection Drops after New Modem

Consider changing to 'Normal' at the very least to just give it a try. I took a screen capture of the help for that function.

    Connection Drops after New Modem

I'm happy you found a resolution. I'm a Spectrum (aka Comcast, aka TimeWarner) customer as well. I have a Netgear CM200 and an ASUS RT-86U for over a year. I wanted to share my WAN panel with you though I don't know if yours is the same. This is what works for me. I don't use ISP DNS servers...

    Connection Drops after New Modem

Could this be a result of being port scanned?

    Connection Drops after New Modem

With most cable providers, you just can’t plug in a new cable modem without contacting them to update the MAC address in their management system. Failure to do so may cause symptoms like you described. Check error log of modem.

ISP router in bridge mode and ISP FW

@Markster A cable modem generally just converts cable technology to an Ethernet electrical interface. The RT-86U network IP address is assigned by your ISP via DHCP originating from your ISP's router somewhere other than your premise. Of course, a cable modem can also have additional functions...

ISP router in bridge mode and ISP FW

Am I to understand that you are putting the RT-86U in "Media Bridge" mode? Why?

ISP router in bridge mode and ISP FW

I did the same thing with AT&T's vDSL gateway router last year. It was a bad idea and I moved to cable with a cable modem of my own. Unless you have some reason to retain the ISP router, I recommend trying to find out if they can give you a cable modem instead or if you can install one yourself.

    RT-AC5300 w/ Xfinity Gigabit - dhcp issues.

Here are my thoughts: When you remove the Ethernet cable from the back of the router and plug it into a PC does DHCP work every time? If it does not work every time, then it could be the Ethernet cable or the modem If it does work every time, then since you have two routers that exhibit the...

My client list is good. I upgraded using existing configuration.

    questions about USB storage types.

Looks like we're done. Just not supported. I believe I read that the USB support is part of the ASUS kernel, if that's the case then you will have to wait until ASUS enhances. @RMerlin

    questions about USB storage types.

Another approach from a telnet session with router: cat /proc/mounts Among other results here is my hard drive with two partitions: /dev/sda3 /tmp/mnt/sda3 thfsplus rw,nodev,relatime,umask=0000,uid=0,gid=0,nls=ut f8,readahead=1M 0 0...

    questions about USB storage types.

If you are able to see all three drives with a single USB3 connection on another Linux platform then it is a limitation of the router's firmware.

    questions about USB storage types.

Here is a dumb question: When you directly connect to a Linux PC, can you see all drives? Why Linux? Because router is Linux based. One way or another is may be a limitation of the router's firmware.

    HomeKit Support?

I am not sure what value having HomeKit on a router would be. I was able to install a Home device on my current network and it works just fine.
