    RT-AC86U Link up and down

Most laptops have some sort of “wake on LAN” capability. I don’t know if your’s does or if you need it but consider turning that off. AppleTV doesn’t give me that option but I think that’s why it left the Ethernet interface the way that it did.

    RT-AC86U Link up and down

I was receiving the same entry for the Ethernet port that my AppleTV was plugged into. However, that would only occur when the AppleTV was placed in 'Sleep' mode. There is something with what Apple did to the Ethernet interface while in 'Sleep' mode that the ASUS auto-negotiation didn't like. I...

All devices dropping connection intermittently to RT-AC66U after upgrading Modem

You cannot arbitrarily swap cable modems as each one has a unique MAC address. Comcast needs to know the MAC address of your new modem so that they are assured that no one is pirating your cable service. Only one modem will work with Comcast and if it's your old one then that's the MAC address...

RT-AC68U router with Merlin - A wireless device disconnects when..

Typically Windoze (all versions) adds a lot of protocol baggage to the adapter being used. Review for each Windoze device and eliminate what you don't need.

    Link down msg

For me that message would be posted when my AppleTV was placed in sleep mode.

    Setting up IPV6 with DNS-over-TLS

@Brenneke Native. For DNS servers I would use 'Custom Servers' and then use whatever you want. ISP DNS servers are usually slower. I use Google: 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844

    Setting up IPV6 with DNS-over-TLS

That 2014 article is no longer accurate. I have Spectrum aka Time Warner as my ISP and have had IPv6 up and running for over a year on my 86U with IPv6 firewall enabled. I still use NAT because not all my devices support IPv6 and not all my destinations are IPv6 enabled.

[Solved] Slow download speed on AC3100 behind AT&T U-Verse 5268AC modem

You now have two workarounds but there’s a third and it’s more of a solution: choose another ISP. I left AT&T, in part, because of the 5268AC and no IPv6 but mostly because of cost (8x the speed of vDSL) for $5 less per month.

[Solved] Slow download speed on AC3100 behind AT&T U-Verse 5268AC modem

I don’t prefer not to use “band-aid” or “workarounds” but was forced to with the 5268AC. A year ago I switched to Spectrum cable and I now have a direct connection from cable modem to ASUS router, an unencumbered connection to internet.

[Solved] Slow download speed on AC3100 behind AT&T U-Verse 5268AC modem

My past experience with 5268AC is not to use bridge mode. Just cascade your AC3100 (plug WAN Ethernet of ASUS into LAN of 5268AC). Yes, you will be double NATing and IPv6 will probably not work but speed should not be impacted. I found that AT&T’s 5268AC had design limitations as did the vDSL...

    ASUS RT-AC3100 speed limit

The key to your issue is the reported speed of the physical Ethernet connection between the ASUS router and ARRIS SB82000 modem. It should be 1Gbps period. This is a physical issue for which the most common failing components are usually: Cables and their connectors Hardware (modem or router)...

AC-86u wireless download speed is exactly half of the Ethernet speed

@Martin1982 @ColinTaylor Just found a great app (App Store) for my Mac: WiFiPerf This test shows my ASUS transmitting at speeds ranging from 877mbps to 1,077mbps in both directions. I encourage you both to try it.

AC-86u wireless download speed is exactly half of the Ethernet speed

Sorry, both Mac devices reported 1+Gbps on transmit, an 802.11ac connection, and levels were comparable to mine. My ISP connection is 200mbps but tests at 234mbps.

In his open he stated that he could get 400mbps on Ethernet with the PC.

AC-86u wireless download speed is exactly half of the Ethernet speed

He must have taken them down as I did. When I viewed the images there was no issue as they compared to my experience. Yup, I concur. My choices are router firmware or hardware at this point.

AC-86u wireless download speed is exactly half of the Ethernet speed

Another thought, but it's up to you, would be to install Merlin firmware if you currently have ASUS firmware or visa versa. I installed Merlin a while back for the ability to use Apple's TimeMachine function.

AC-86u wireless download speed is exactly half of the Ethernet speed

On my MacBook Pro I have Speedtest app installed. It's free, try it. I have 200/10 service. Here are my results just now. Durham, NC is local but GA location is 260+ miles away.

AC-86u wireless download speed is exactly half of the Ethernet speed

At this point, it looks like a ASUS router issue; hardware or firmware. Let's approach this from a no cost perspective; firmware. I don't know whether you are using ASUS firmware or Merlin but no matter download a fresh copy to have on hand. Perform a factory reset of the router and reconfigure...

AC-86u wireless download speed is exactly half of the Ethernet speed

On your iMac and your MacBook, move your pointer to the WiFi symbol and while holding down the option key, select it. Then capture that information and include both in your next update. Mine is attached.
