Need help getting RT-AX86U set up.

What do you not understand about what I wrote about using WPS for a hard factory reset? It usually doesn't work that way.

    XT9 AiMesh roaming trouble

I have channels 36-64 and only 100-140. I think it will be the same in the UK. I'm not convinced that Multicast Rate changes anything. Have you tried setting a high value? Additionally, you can disable IGMP Snooping.

    XT9 AiMesh roaming trouble

Have you tried setting it to Fair? 5GHz-1 in UK (and EU) is limited up to 200mW.

Need help getting RT-AX86U set up.

If I bought a used router, I would want to make sure it was cleaned well. I would probably also re-upload the firmware and perform a hard reset again (with WPS and UI initialize). Maybe I'm paranoid.

I need some advise and help figure out which to pick or order.

In fact, the GT-AX6000 looks pretty good (without antennas), but the antennas are very shoddy (maybe it would be better if they at least had colorful lights). The ROG GUI also looks ugly to me. Nothing (except the design) justifies the higher price, just as nothing indicates which model will...

Need help getting RT-AX86U set up.

See the RESET button on the page from my link ;) Generally, in this case, the point is that it is safer to perform another reset from the GUI (and UI initialize).

    Choice of router/mesh point

RT-AX5400 and TUF-AX3000 V2 have very similar performance. TUF-AX3000 V2 has a newer, slightly better CPU and 2,5 Gbps WAN - you can set it as the main AiMesh router. RT-AX5400 has a better radio 5GHz - you can place it where there are more the most demanding WiFi 5GHz clients.

Need help getting RT-AX86U set up.

From my observations - the result is often a reset reset to factory default, not a hard reset (some data remains, the data log for AiProtection, Traffic Analyzer, Web History...). Better to perform a reset and UI initialize. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1000925/

This won't help when the site providing the icons is offline ;)

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 is now available

It is website code <div class="model_icon web" style="background-image: url("https://nw-dlcdnet.asus.com/plugin/productIcons/ROUTER-MODEL.png");' It will fix itself when the page is displayed and the router and your browser connects to it.

Check what model OP is asking about... Only in your world, not in real world. EOT. Ignoring.

    Ethernet Backhaul config

I have configurations with both (Yes and No) settings. I didn't notice any differences in performance. I haven't done any tests to see if it affects WiFi performance.

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 is now available

The real icons are displayed from the nw-dlcdnet.asus.com website (e.g. https://nw-dlcdnet.asus.com/plugin/productIcons/RT-AX86U.png) - the lack of icon is probably a problem with connecting to this domain. This also happened on other versions of firmwares.

How much less secure is a RT AC68

Asuswrt-Merlin is not official Asus firmware. 99% of Asus routers users do not use Asuswrt-Merlin firmware. Welcome to the real world.

    RT-BE96U Tri-Band

    For dual WAN it is better to use TP-Link, e.g. ER605, ER707-M2 or ER8411. For Wi-Fi 7 - RT-BE96U or Omada EAP773.
