Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.94SF

So you have an extender connected on one eth port, it stops working after certain hours (with readycloud enabled). There is nothing else connected on any other eth port. It still applies what I mentioned above and may be worth trying it out. When eth port fails, what happens if you disconnect...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.94SF

Most of us have readycloud disabled. But here are few things that you can look into. Do all ports fail? Are you able to ping the device on the failed port (trying to understand if it still has the IP assigned)? What happens if you disconnect the eth cable on the failed port and connect it back...

Voxel Voxel firmare release: Regular release vs SnapShot version

Snapshots are as good as regular versions. I used all snapshot versions for R7800 released so far and they all worked like regular ones. Currently on 94.4 for R7800.

Netgear configuration file is a password protected ZIP?

Thanks that is a great utility, it could be very useful in case of Nand failures for the bad batch of R7800 with Macronix Nands. My R7800 has Micron Nand (MT29F1G08ABBEAH4), one from the earliest batches. I do keep both cfg and txt bkps through a script. I figured the cmds from nvram binary, it...

Netgear configuration file is a password protected ZIP?

That might be one of the reason they started using password protected zip in newer models rather than using the binary cfg like R7800. (Also there are some default settings that they do not want user to change in the backup config). I don't have RAX model that is why I was not sure. They...

Netgear configuration file is a password protected ZIP?

I opened R7800 cfg and there is no ascii/text info in it, not even IP. I assume RAX42 cfg config might be same as well. There was a vulnerability reported for RAX43 backup config zip password sometime back, NG was using a hard coded password for zipped config. I think that was fixed by NG, most...

    R7800 went flakey

A thorough reset, as mentioned in kamoj's FAQ. Switching between 2 different firmware and running cmds: Is this what you tried?

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.94SF

Yes and use the firmware update page just like you used to update the NG firmware. It is better to reset it once, when you switched the firmware, but it is not necessary. In case you see any issue after firmware update then reset router is the first step. Reset is done by the reset button from...

    Voxel Custom firmware build for Orbi RBK50/RBK53 (RBR50, RBS50) v. 9.2.5.2.21SF-HW

It will not be straight forward. Most of the Netgear routers sold with ISP branding have hardware or firmware lock, depending on the orbi model. From the UI if you try to update fw it will return an error. Only way is fw recovery through tftp. For hardware lock you need to change the board...

    Confused about DHCP Option 60/61

If it is working fine keep it that way but down below may be helpful at some later point of time. All that is needed is switch lan dns from router itself to rpi. It requires changing only one line in "/etc/init.d/net-lan" From > option dns $($CONFIG get lan_ipaddr) To > option dns 192.168.1.2...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.94SF

Since you did not specifically mention what exactly is the issue. (Registration failure issues in the past from some folks were common) Check the value of these nvram vars from telnet/ssh: nvram show | grep readycloud_enable 0 = readycloud disabled 1 = readycloud enabled nvram show | grep...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.94SF

It indeed is. I built with gcc 11.3. FW builds perfectly fine, including all pkgs. Flashed the built fw to my R7800. I integrated this few releases back. It is a better option than disabling build docs through build arg 'OR' installing extra pkgs for build docs warnings. I have also integrated...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.94SF

Yes. I never had any issue with regular or snapshot version of Voxel fw. Voxel gave us a favor by releasing .94.1.SF version. This whole discussion has nothing to do with Voxel fw. It is about Netgear releasing the language updates separately.

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.94SF

My point was if someone did the NG LG update, that information is stored permanently somewhere in flash outside the main fw. That may be one of the reasons NG offers LG table update separate from the main fw update. So if someone has not updated the LG table from NG yet it will not be saved in...

Voxel Custom firmware build for R7800 v. 1.0.2.94SF

Thank you for releasing this snapshot. Previously once you hit the LG update. There was no way to go back to fw builtin LG version (V1.0.0.361) I tried deleting all LG update files, reverting back to old fw versions upto .68SF & .68, resetting NVRAM var to StringTable_NonEnglish_Ver=V1.0.0.361...

GUI Language Version Update It will download language table (language translations). It reads information from /tmp/fileinfo.txt. It hits NG servers at: https://http.fw.updates1.netgear.com [OR] ftp://updates1.netgear.com Current "UI language version" and "selected UI language table" are stored...

If things are not working as intended factory reset after flashing fw helps. It is showing 866/866 to me: May be try to switch 5G channel. For me it is always 153. Switching congestion control algorithm can be helpful as well. iperf results for 300/300 plan:

    Restoring R7800 netgear flash partition

squashfs is a compressed read-only file system. I gave you the hint how to extract it. You do not need any "reverse engineering" to do that. There is no point in getting grumpy.
