UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

Of course. I wanted to install a UniFi system years ago in my condo and I just never did it. I really like their product so I will likely go that route. I know the home network installer I talked to does a lot of UniFi installs. He also does another brand (can’t remember the name), but it’s...

UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

Oh we didn’t discuss that yet I was just getting his opinion on how to best outfit the house during the build phase. House won’t be done for another 5-6 months.

UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

Yea if need be. I wouldn’t do a ceiling mounted AP. But I will have 2 Ethernet ports in the garage so I could plug another AP in there. Doubt I would though. Thanks!

UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

Nothing on that side yard of the house over there except my trash cans lol. The garage I can just add a plug in AP. Talked with a home network installer on the phone and he was very helpful. He agreed that would be a good spot.

UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

I’m gonna have them pre-wire an AP in the hallway between Bedroom 2 and 3. I think that’s probably the best way to go.

UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

Cool. Maybe that’s the better option over the second ceiling mounted AP

UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

That’s the 5GHz plot. Maybe I really only need the one AP they already include? It would certainly save me a lot of money. I like the UniFi product. Any specific wall mount/outlet mount APs you would recommend? Like I said, all the rooms including the garage and back patio will have at least 2...

UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

Like the hallway that connects bedroom 2 and 3?

UniFi Access Point Placement - New Build

Hey guys, I've used UniFi's Design Center to place 2 APs in various places. The first AP in the Living Room will not be moving at all since they have already determined the pre-wired location. I do have control over the second AP though. I was thinking the main hallway would be a great place...

New Build Home - Home Network Questions

Just an update. I think I will do two ethernet ports per room including the garage. The master bedroom and living room will have 3 ports in addition to a coax cable (which I really don't care about since we don't buy cable and just use streaming services). I didn't realize it, but the house...

New Build Home - Home Network Questions

New Build Home - Home Network Questions

Just as an FYI. The house is only 2100 sq feet. Not sure if that affects anything regarding coverage

New Build Home - Home Network Questions

Unfortunately it’s the only appointment you have to choose all these finishing items. So on Friday that will be it. I’ll try to get a good feel for what all is included and then make the decision I guess. We really don’t need anything too fancy.

New Build Home - Home Network Questions

Yea I will ask on Friday when we finalize all our selections in what is included with the Wireless Access Solution.

New Build Home - Home Network Questions

Alright sounds like maybe adding the two ports to the guest bedrooms and then maybe the Wireless Access Solution for $1200 would be a good way to go?

New Build Home - Home Network Questions

Hey guys, My wife and I purchased a new build home that will be done in the next 5-6 months. The house includes a "Structured Wiring Package" which basically includes a 30" enclosure, CAT 6 port/ coax/satellite port, and a 110V outlet. The house also includes a combo port (CAT 6 port/coax port)...
