[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

What are the RSSI values of the backhaul channels for the node? 6 meters is not very far between the two, perhaps too close. Do you even need the node? Have you tried temporarily running an Ethernet cable to the node to see if it helps? Have you tried moving the node farther away? What size...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Your speeds definitely seem slow. I get about 130/12 for my ISP speed and I can hit those speeds both hardwired, wireless, and wireless connected to the node. The only time I experience slow speeds is if I reboot the main router and I don't reboot the node I will always get around 10Mbps...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

It took me a few times to get my node added to the mesh so it's possible you might have to try a few times. Do you get the same behavior using both the Web UI and the mobile app?

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Interesting. Thanks for testing. I’m not sure if it is a “good” end game solution but certainly gives more information. I believe that iOS queries AP strength more often than Android so when iOS gets disconnected with RA they already know where to go. With Android they have to do a scan first...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Also, anyone using an Android device that has issues with RA turned on, does it help at all if you turn on under Developer Options the option "Allow Wifi Roaming Scans"

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Of course not. Just trying to help troubleshoot. My thought is that the devices disconnect and the client goes through a whole connection process. So just trying to see if eliminating the DHCP request helps. Process of elimination my friend.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

No I don’t want a DHCP request made period for the test.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Don’t try it with this option because it will still be making a DHCP request, that is what we are trying to avoid.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Just change your SSID to (.)(.) ;) Thanks for the tip on the wireless adapter settings. Mine also had some config properties I could set to have it prefer 5g.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I agree with that. Just trying to see if it makes any difference then folks who have that issue could maybe work with an ASUS engineer to find a more permanent fix if that is indeed an issue. So far it seems that most people having issues with their devices disconnect are using an Android based...

It's also been said that hiding your SSID is actually less secure. https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/28653/debunking-myths-is-hiding-your-wireless-ssid-really-more-secure/

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Yes, ultimately the client decides. There is an old saying you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Same applies here. For anyone who has clients that disconnect when using RA and it takes a few seconds to connect again I'm curious what would happen if you used a static IP...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Depends on if you are doing wireless backhaul or ethernet for benefits of a two-node system. Also, I guess you don't understand how RA works either. Too bad.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

WPS seems to be required to setup your nodes as you don't have to go into any UIs and specify your Wifi password to have the nodes connect wirelessly. I'm guessing that WPS would also then be used anytime you changed your wireless password to allow to the nodes to connect with the new settings...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I believe they are for the different bands since you can turn WPS on/off in the UI per band. I haven't had a chance to try it yet myself so I don't know for sure. Maybe if you are near your router you can try it and report back for us.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

It's always a good time to learn :). At any rate, when you makes changes in the UI it just modified the NVRAM values so there is little chance that you will screw anything up during the next firmware upgrade. If you are worried you could always make a note of the values that you changed and...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.10007 for All Supported Products

There is at least one more. I haven't had time to really look at it but I would suspect one property per band since you can turn wps on/off per band. Try nvram show | grep wps_enable it will limit the results more. wps_enable_x=0

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I completely agree but until Asus allows us to modify node settings, adjusting the NVRAM is our only option at this point. It's actually really easy. Telnet or SSH into your node via the IP address of the node and login with your admin credentials at which point you will have a command prompt...

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

I don't know why people can't understand this, if you disable RA it is NOT AIMesh doing the seamless handoff, it is your CLIENT deciding it wants to switch nodes. If you disable RA you essentially just have an access point with some of the Aimesh added features like centralized management.

[Official Release] AiMesh Firmware v3.0.0.4.384.20308 for All Supported Products

Great! I still have not checked this myself but I did SSH in and noticed there were a few wps_enable properties. You could use a command like the following to show them. 'nvram show | grep wps_enable'. At any rate I noticed on my main router that both wps_enable_x and wps_enable were set set to...
