    IPv6 passthrough disadvantages?

Unless your ISP is doing something weird there shouldn't be any NATing with IPv6. The whole point of IPv6 is to no longer require NATing. You may be double NATing with IPv4 but there shouldn't be any NATing with IPv6. Also, don't confuse NAT with a firewall. They are not the same. Unless...

AC5300 WLAN to WLAN connectivity issues

I'm on an IPv6 network. This problem is worse on IPv6 networks because as the issue progresses, you end up not receiving RA's from the router and eventually external IPv6 traffic stops. I'm not trying to fix a printer like the OP, I'm trying to fix the entire problem.

AC5300 WLAN to WLAN connectivity issues

This issue originally started happening once a week. It increased to 1-2 times a day. Each time it occurred I had to reboot the router to fix the issue. A couple of days after you reported the exact same issue, I downgraded back to 386.3_2 just to make sure it actually fixed the issue. As...

AC5300 WLAN to WLAN connectivity issues

Well, when I fist noticed the issue was immediately after the January release (386.4_0). At that time going back to 386.3_2 wasn't really that far. Since then, I have tested every release as they came out. They all have had the issue. The issue or variations of the issue has been reported in...

AC5300 WLAN to WLAN connectivity issues

I have been having this exact same issue on my RT-AC5300 for months. It started with the release of version 386.4_0. The problem goes away if you revert back to version 386.3_2. The problem is especially an issue for me because I"m on an IPv6 network and this problem eventually stops IPv6...

RT-AC5300 Bridge, vlan and arp trouble. Running wrt-merlin 386.7_2

I continue to have ICMP problems on my AC5300 since version 386.4_0 was released back in January. When it occurs, I stop getting IPv6 RA's. Also, when the problem occurs, I can't ping active IPv4 devices on my network. Reverting back to 386.3_2 fixes the issue.

Some IPv6 lan traffic stops routing after about 30 days

For me the problem goes away if I downgrade to Merlin. 386_3.2. The problem has gotten considerably worse to where it happens daily since updating my three Apple TV's to tvOS 16. Since the tvOS upgrade, my newest Apple TV which is a 4k 2nd gen model, keeps both WiFi and ethernet active at all...

    Native IPv6 not working

When I asked earlier about your IPv4 IP being a pubic IP you responded with your IPv6 address. I'm not concerned about your IPv6 address. I would expect that to be public as that is the nature of IPv6. I asking about the IPv4 IP because the will give insight on how the NR7101 is behaving...

    Native IPv6 not working

Does your provider mention they support prefix delegation? If not, passthrough mode is the only option outside of putting the ASUS in AP mode instead of router mode. Whats the goal here with the extra router? Who is the ISP? Also, when. you had your Windows system connected directly, what...

    Native IPv6 not working

Why would you assume IPv6 on the ASUS will work in native mode when connected to the NR7101 just because your laptop received an IPv6 address when connected? With that information, I would assume just the opposite. If you are getting IPv6 addresses from the NR7101 that means its handling the...

I don't think the firmware plays well with iOS 16, probably Private Address feature

Strange, I did not get an update on any of mine today. There is definitely a bug or change in behavior on the 4k 2nd gen model. It seems now even if you have ethernet connected, it still connects to WiFI. And it send out IPv6 RA's out both interfaces. Who knows why.

Some IPv6 lan traffic stops routing after about 30 days

This just happened again just moments ago. I have been running a traffic capture for a little over 24 hours. Router announcements from my 5300 stopped about an hour ago. Also, @Morac, my devices don't immediately lose their IPv6 addresses and they do show up in the router as having them...

Some IPv6 lan traffic stops routing after about 30 days

I possibly am mixing issues. However, my problems, which at least sound similar, also predate iOS 16. Mine started with the Merlin update last January.

Some IPv6 lan traffic stops routing after about 30 days

This sounds like a similar problem that I am having and has been reported on this forum in various ways since version 386_4. However, 386_4 was released in January. So, it's not a quite year old. When I have the problem IPv4 traffic is fine. But, after several days, IPv6 clients lose their...

I don't think the firmware plays well with iOS 16, probably Private Address feature

I am watching this thread because this issue sounds very close to an issue I have been having since Merlin 386_4. I am not losing wifi networks. But, IPv6 router announcements stop working every few days. If I reboot my RT-AC5300, RA's start working again. In addition, if I revert Merlin...

    Options when behind cgnat

Correct. Tunnelbroker.net won't work because they test your IP before setting it up.

    Options when behind cgnat

But a tunnel broker may very well not fix your WiFi calling issue. It depends who your cell phone provider is. Not all cell companies have IPv6 connections to their WiFi calling servers. When I had AT&T a couple of years ago they didn't.
  19. F

    Options when behind cgnat

There is more than CGNAT going on here as CGNAT alone won't break WiFi calling. In addition, you really don't need a tunnel broker unless you are trying to add IPv6 support. If you are just trying to fix WiFi calling, a tunnel broker is not needed. I would first get a trial of any number of...
