[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Are there any notable wifi stability changes/fixes between 32E4 and 36E4? I've read the changelog but it's too much for me to understand or decipher. I'm just curious whether it's worth upgrading. I don't use any of the services on the router (such as printer, USB storage, VPN, etc) and it acts...

    V33E7 and DNSSEC

I'm unclear on the change made regarding DNSSEC validation enabled by default. My LAN is a bit old, and am running two VM DNS servers that do NOT support DNSSEC. These two DNS servers are configured by a separate DHCP server. The router is not performing any kind of DNS or DHCP. If I upgrade...

What does "WAN DNS Setting" do?

I currently have this pointing to my own internal DNS servers on my home network, but these are handed out to clients using my own DHCP server, so I'm not entirely sure what setting the values below actually does. Thanks.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

This question was mentioned before but was curious as well. Does the newest build change the TX/RX power of the 5Ghz band? If so, what exactly is different? I'm currently on 30E2. Thank you.

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Any performance or stability changes in this release since 27E for AC68U?

    Basement OK for router placement?

I can't really move my AC68U too much. I have a split foyer and the router is near the center of the house about 4 feet off the ground, in the bottom level. Is this still considered OK or would there be a huge benefit to moving it upstairs? All 3 antennas are straight up and parallel. My speeds...

    AC68U is endlessly rebooting

This worked! Thank you. Holding WPS didnt' work, but holding the reset button on the back DID work. I got to the mini web server, cleared the nvram, uploaded the latest V27E5, and it worked. So far those intermittent dips are no longer there and it's back to normal. Hopefully nothing else...

    AC68U is endlessly rebooting

I'll try that tonight and report back. I may have done this already, however. Thanks.

    AC68U is endlessly rebooting

The router is using John's Merlin fork V27E5. The router is seemingly in an endless boot cycle where the power LED will stay solid for about 20 seconds, then the LAN lights will flash, then the USB light, then back to power, and it repeats. I can't communicate with it. Here's what I did: I...

Latest Merlin vs latest fork by John, specifically for WiFi performance on AC68U?

Apologies if this comparison is elsewhere but I can't seem to find it. I recently purchased a AC68U rev C to replace my N66U and wanted to know the differences in wireless performance between the two latest firmwares. I understand John's fork uses an older version of the wifi drivers, but...

    AC68U Issues with Chromecast Audio?

Having a similar issue. Bumping for visibility.

"Detect connection again..." ,no wifi/wan green icons, but not seeing issues

Alright... please ignore. It eventually worked after I started to go to the network setup wizard and then came back. Weird. EDIT: actually, I had F12 chrome tools open when I did it the first time. Came back, it showed the same issue. Did Ctrl + F5 and it fixed it, so it looks like some sort of...

"Detect connection again..." ,no wifi/wan green icons, but not seeing issues

I don't recall seeing this before, but I'm noticing this. Wifi and WAN are working fine, however. I'm using John's fork 27E5. Tried a reboot with no change. Thanks.

What should WAN DNS Setting be?

I run my own DNS servers at home (the ones below). I noticed this setting was getting DNS info from my ISP. I manually set them as my own two DNS servers. Could this cause any adverse affects? Thanks.

Not really thrilled by N66U => AC68U upgrade

I used the restore utility to throw John's fork on there. No difference that I see. I know my issue is the router is in the basement (it's in the center of the house, but still in the basement), and I still have some spotty spots in my 2000 sqft house I was hoping to rid myself of. The speeds...

Not really thrilled by N66U => AC68U upgrade

I've had a N66U running the latest merlin/john fork for a while and it's been solid, but it's also old and wanted to look into AC. I picked up a A68U today and, while connection speeds are definitely much faster, I'm kind of erked by the fact that the connection seems "stronger" with the old...

Question about speed of Actiontec MI424WR rev E vs RT-N66U

True. Before, I was using the Actiontec as my router and my N66U as just an AP. I do like the software much better on the N66U. I also did it because I heard there were issues with Chromecasts and the Actiontec router. Who knows if this is resolving it, but we'll see.

Question about speed of Actiontec MI424WR rev E vs RT-N66U

I bridged my Actiontec earlier because, well, everyone seems to recommend it. I didn't have any problems before (at least I didn't think) and don't seem to be having any now. However, I am curious about the difference in speed of the CPU between these two. It seems like the Actiontec actually...

Worthwhile using N66U as router instead of VZ's ActionTec Rev E?

For years I've used my MI424-WR as my router and my N66U as an access point. However, I'm thinking of finally making the jump and putting the ActionTec into bridge mode, making full use of the N66U as a router. Are there really any real-world benefits to this? Any improvements to performance...

[Fork] Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 LTS releases (Archive)

Is there any change to the wireless drivers for the N66U from 26E4? Thanks.
