Want to upgrade from RT-N66U, used only as AP. Suggestions?

I was searching for an answer for this and came across my own question. Bumping this. Any more suggestions?

Speed/disconnect issues with one device... issue with router?

My gut feeling is that it's solely the device that is having issues, but if just one device is having issues with random slow speed, or a disconnect, could it indicate an issue with my router? All other devices on the network behave just fine. My N66U is running the latest merlin fork. Thanks.

Why does my wifi speed fluctuate?

Thank you. This was what I wanted to confirm regarding how it works. In my case, the lower channels on my 5ghz band had less WAPs, but the signal was worse. When I left my router on "auto" for channel selection, it kept choosing a higher-frequency channel with more WAPs. Maybe the chatter is...

Why does my wifi speed fluctuate?

Yeah, mine's been rock solid over the years, though I am considering an Orbi mainly to get more coverage.

Why does my wifi speed fluctuate?

No other clients, just me, unless something else was downloading a firmware/update/whatever, though it wasn't likely. I guess I meant to say "interference". There are several other 40mhz and 80mhz WAPs near me (and on the same channels as mine). I can't really avoid them by getting on a clear...

Why does my wifi speed fluctuate?

The speed over ethernet is just fine, about 100-115 MBps. I did another transfer shortly after and the speed was more consistent. I was wondering if this has to do with interference management in the WiFi. I'm transferring a single large file.

Why does my wifi speed fluctuate?

Connected to a N66U, downloading over 5Ghz N from a local share. The ups and downs seem to always follow a pattern. What is causing this? Interference? There is some congestion according to wifi analyzers. Thanks.

Will the Orbi system work as strictly APs?

Mesh or whatever we call it, I'm referring to being able to use 2 or more Orbis as "one network" and not as a repeater. Can multiple Orbis be set up as in a network where the router is separate?

Will the Orbi system work as strictly APs?

My current setup uses my ASUS router as a AP. I'm thinking of getting an Orbi, but heard some systems require the main unit to be the router to handle the mesh capabilities. Is this true? Thanks.

Android tablet disconnects from WiFi when attempting to cast to Chromecast Audio

More on the experiment. I put the CCAs on 2.4 and my tablet on 2.4, and it did the same behavior. I'm currently testing it with them each on different WiFi bands (CCAs 2.4, tablet 5ghz). So far it seems stable. The issue seems to be if this one tablet is on the same band as the CCAs. Very weird...

Android tablet disconnects from WiFi when attempting to cast to Chromecast Audio

I'm not sure where to start, but I can't seem to find any info on this one. I do have a N66U, and it is a wireless issue, so I'll start here. I have a Samsung Tablet (android 7.0) and a LG G5 (android 7.0). I have 4 CCAs. Ever since the tablet was upgraded to 7.0, it's had an issue where, about...

    [RT-N66U] Upgrade to John's 374.43 or stick with Merlin's 270.26b?

Well, I'm not sure exactly when this started, but I've slowly added phones, chromecasts, updated wifi on laptops... can't pinpoint something specific.

    [RT-N66U] Upgrade to John's 374.43 or stick with Merlin's 270.26b?

Thanks. Can anyone comment in regard to the wireless performance between the two?

Want to upgrade from RT-N66U, used only as AP. Suggestions?

My N66U has been working just fine and has good range, but I'm (finally) looking into AC wireless. The N66U is only used as a AP, so I only care about performance. I wouldn't mind having more bandwidth and speed throughout the house. I have a mix of N (2.4 and 5) devices as well as some AC...

    [RT-N66U] Upgrade to John's 374.43 or stick with Merlin's 270.26b?

This is what actually got me questioning whether I should upgrade. I saw about 20+ of these, about several from different days. Not sure what triggered them. I haven't noticed any slow-down issues at all - just weird they were popping up.

    [RT-N66U] Upgrade to John's 374.43 or stick with Merlin's 270.26b?

I've been running the 270.26b firmware on my N66U for years and haven't had issues. Only recently I've noticed the occasional eth2: received packet with own address as source address but otherwise it's been fine. I'm curious though, is there are any performance benefits to updating to John's...

5Ghz N speed varies between 100mbps and 200+ mbps throughout the day?

Yep. Tried it and didn't make much of a difference.

5Ghz N speed varies between 100mbps and 200+ mbps throughout the day?

There's only a couple other 5ghz clients but they're not active when testing. No interference and I've tried other channels. I'm currently using 40mhz, N-only. The router is a RT-N66U and I'm testing this via a Windows Explorer file transfer. The NIC is a Intel 6235 2x2 in a Samsung laptop. The...

    Another N66u question

I kept a list of older firmwares for my N66U when I tried some upgrades and ran into issues. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzaDKiWiMQoHQWk2ekpDRVdVZzA&authuser=0 I personally am on .26b and love it. It's been stable since I installed it almost a year ago. EDIT: If you're using ver 2 of...

    Is 10-15 MB/s average for N66U 5ghz?

I have a samsung laptop with an Intel 6235 2x2. Router is N66U at 5ghz, 40mhz. I've been getting around 10-15 MB/s (usually around 110 mbps on average). I'm about one room away (2 walls). The router is, unfortunately, sitting in an entertainment center (no doors). It usually locks in and stays...
