    Most stable firmware?

What is considered the most stable firmware for wireless? I care more about stability than speed. Thanks.

Is a rare timeout from a ping on 5ghz normal?

Could even things like activity on the remote computer cause a ping to timeout? I just had one again within a few minutes, but hasn't done it since. I was running an update at the time it timed out.

Is a rare timeout from a ping on 5ghz normal?

I guess I just don't have a baseline of "How many timeouts over X total is normal?".

Is a rare timeout from a ping on 5ghz normal?

I might be obsessing, but I was looking into how well my wireless is performing. I have two 5ghz laptops on wireless-N. My AP is an ASUS rt-n66u (w/ merlin .40), WPA2, N-only, 40mhz only. I wrote a script that endlessly pings both laptops and records whether there's a timeout. I let the script...

Is "Engineering Mode" any less stable?

I understand what it is, and what merlin's insight into what it does is from threads, but I'm curious if anyone has info on whether the trade-off for the added speed/range has any impact on stability. I'm running .40 on an RT-N66U, and have not noticed anything odd, but I guess you can say I...

N66U default settings for wireless professional screens?

    This works, thank you.

N66U default settings for wireless professional screens?

Well, I stated my reasons for not wanting to do those steps but I guess that's irreverent. I merely wanted to compare settings for just those pages, not reset the device and unplug cables to prevent an IP conflict with my modem.

N66U default settings for wireless professional screens?

I figured it would be easier if someone could throw 4 screenshots on imgur. Plus, I don't feel like kicking people off the network right now.

N66U default settings for wireless professional screens?

Could someone post the default settings via screenshot for the Wireless "General" and "Professional" screens for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz on the N66U? I want to compare my own but don't feel like resetting others settings. EDIT: preferrably Merlin .40. Thanks!

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.40 is out

Is it recommended to restore to factory settings if going from .39 to this? Thanks.

    Asuswrt-Merlin 374.40 Beta 2 is available

If going from .39 to .40 on my N66U, do I need to reset my settings? Thanks.

What is TO in namebench? Timeout? Why do I have at least 1-2?

I'm benchmarking between Windows DNS and BIND on linux. I've noticed that, consistently, while BIND is 2-3 times slower on average, the Windows DNS usually has 1-2 "TO" values, while BIND has 0 (only once did it have a 1). Does TO = Time Out? While we're at it, what does NX stand for? Why...

    Worth upgrading?

Sorry, it's a RT-N66U. Could you say why? Thanks. Edit: Does the newer driver resolve the range issues that were apparent after my .32 version?

    Worth upgrading?

I've been using 3.0.0.4.374.32 for quite some time and its been solid for me so far. At least, it seems that way. I'm curious if any compelling reason to update to the latest 374.39. Thanks.

Intel 6325 drivers. Why am I stuck at 15.10 when 16.X is latest on their site?

I ended up having to do a Win 8 refresh due to unrelated issues. The wifi issue is no longer there and connects immediately upon boot. All is well. Thanks anyway.

Can suddenly no longer connect to VPN host after reboot?

I've had a solid connection to my home VPN server (windows 2012) from my office (windows 8.1) for days over PPTP and have had no issues. This morning, I had to hard-shutdown my server due to an unrelated issue and reboot it. The issue is, on my office PC, I can suddenly no longer connect to...

Samsung Chronos with Intel 6235 takes long time to connect in Windows 8.1

Anyone? I've tried: - multiple APs - 5ghz and 2.4ghz It seems to be just this card in this laptop, seeeeemingly after the 8.1 update, where it takes a couple minutes to finally connect once booted. Another laptop with an intel 5100 and 8.1 doesn't have this issue, nor does another laptop...

Intel 6325 drivers. Why am I stuck at 15.10 when 16.X is latest on their site?

I've uninstalled the device and make sure to select to remove the driver where i could. Other than that, I'm not sure where else to force delete drivers.

Adding a router to Verizon FiOS Actiontec Router

I have a couple APs hanging off my actiontec router. I changed nothing on my router and disabled DHCP on the APs. Some allowed me to set a AP mode and let me plug a wire between the LAN on the actiontec and the WAN on the AP, or just plug from LAN to LAN. The actiontec will still handle DHCP...

Intel 6325 drivers. Why am I stuck at 15.10 when 16.X is latest on their site?

Whenever I try to install version 16 of the driver for this card, it only shows 15.10 in my device manager. Why is this? Thanks.
