N66 in repeater mode, just displaying "please wait".

I'm playing with my N66 in wireless repeater mode, repeating from my AC68 which is broadcasting 2.4 and 5. I'm using my laptop connected via ethernet to my N66. So i've done a factory reset on my old N66, then put it into repeater mode, did a scan, found the network being broadcast from my AC68...

AC68 Merlin 380.62_0 not assigning static ip addresses

As the title says. My DHCP pool is .50 - .254 so .2 -.49 is for my static ip addresses. All my ip cameras and devices have been assigned via their mac addresses static ip's, my 2 tv's though one samsung, one sony won't have it. I've gone to the tv settings on both tv's, checked their mac...

    RT-AC68U f/w: Merlin's or John's Fork???

I'd also like to know that and then how to view the cameras remotely. At the moment, my cameras stream out through their open ports on my router, then using my mobile phone with tinycam monitor app i add each camera with the appropriate details for each camera such as the open port on my router...

Hi John, thanks for the reply. Can you tell me the differences between your firmware and Merlins ? Is the main aim of your frimware stability ? Is there a difference in wireless range/power setting ? For the interface , is there much difference ? I haven't seen any pictures or videos of your...

Hi, i hope i'm posting this in the correct section. Ok, i've had an N66 for a few years now, been solid on Merlins 270.26, i'm running about 9 wireless ip cams, tablets, tv's, phones, chromecasts etc, all wireless, and a server program (serviio) on my hardwired windows pc , all has been good on...

Best way to create media server

I use a free server app called serviio on my pc. It's easy to set up. I'm using an Asus roter, N66. All videos play flawlessly on both my tv's, which are connected wirelessly. Paul.

DIY home surveillance with IP camera?

If night vision capable cameras aren't needed, ie security lights are being used, then an android and pc based cctv system is almost free to set up and works just as well. Paul.

Which Drive to stream videos from?

I stream from my PC to all my tv's. On my pc i use a server program called serviio, reason being, serviio transcodes movies into a format playable by my tv's, as you probably know tv's won't play all formats. Once serviio is installed on the pc go to source on your tv (if it's a samsung )...

How do I block internal network connection to a NAS drive

Set up the guest network, let the kids use that, they can still get on the internet but can't access the internal network, or log into the router and mess with it. Obviously change the password on the non guest network so they can't get on that anymore. Paul

    Wireless router for IP cameras

I'm using an RT-N66U with about 6 wireless ip cameras, it copes easily. I use the asus DDNS for remote viewing (tinycam monitor in android phone). I've set up about 4 similar systems for other people, no one has yet come back with any problems. As far as ip cameras go, the android cameras are...

    RT-AC68U & IP Cameras

I don't know if it's more secure to use asus DDNS, the reason i use the asus hosting is so that i can access my android ip cameras without having to worry about my dynamic ip address changing. The android cameras obviously don't come with manufacturers hosting like my foscam cameras, although...

Use the asus built in DDNS hosting. Here's how https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2NjKkXW30Y Then use tinycam monitor on your android devices to access the cameras via the hostname. I've got loads of experience with this, see my signature. I've also set up many ip camera cctv systems for other...

Rt-n66u and Androids running IP Webcam -Router seems to lose Connection to Phones

For the price of mobile phones I wouldn't be bothering myself with the old LG phones. I've bought 2 android phones at my local supermarket, Samsung galaxy pocket, android 4.1 for £39. They're unlocked for any network so can be used as phones if needed. CCTV is getting so cheap. Paul.

Rt-n66u and Androids running IP Webcam -Router seems to lose Connection to Phones

I've got multiple android devices running ipwebcam (as well as foscam ip cameras) all connected wirelessly to my n66u. I've never had an android camera drop out. There's a setting in ipwebcam regarding stopping the phone going to sleep, have you checked that setting ? Also a setting regarding...
