Single guest network where devices can interact

@bennor Sorry I've been remiss in posting back, but I wanted to thank you for all your help with this YazFi topic! It was invaluable and finally let me do what I had long wanted. I even got some unexpected uses out of it as well. So thanks, again!

Single guest network where devices can interact

Thanks for your responses! Hopefully last question: Is there a way I can keep 2 or 3 of my devices on that guest network from talking to the Internet? (I want them talking to each other, though.)

Single guest network where devices can interact

How much care and feeding does YazFi need? Do I need to add a flash drive? Do I need to disable it to upgrade Merlin? How do I back up the settings? Thanks

Single guest network where devices can interact

Thanks, I'll have to look into YazFi.

Single guest network where devices can interact

Can I create a single guest network where devices can interact with each other and reach the internet but cannot reach the devices on any other network on my router? I want guests to be able to show pictures from their cell phones on my TV. The TV doesn't need to talk to other devices on my...

Why do I need a Let's Encrypt certificate?

Well, I gave this a try, but nothing changed, unfortunately: Unable to connect An error occurred during a connection to [redacted].asuscomm.com. The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. If you are unable to load any pages, check your...

Why do I need a Let's Encrypt certificate?

I want to resurrect this thread, please, because I'm still confused. I have external access to my router turned OFF, except through OpenVPN, on my Asus running Merlin 3004.388.4. I turned on HTTPS: only, configured Let's Encrypt, and set up DDNS. The main Asus Merlin "dashboard" shows my DDNS...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.6 is now available

I have a GT-AX11000 running 3004.388.4_0_rog. I accidentally flashed the ROG version last time, having previously used the standard Merlin versions. Can I do a dirty flash to 3004.388.6, non ROG firmware?

    What add ons to install

So if I put entware and killmon onto a USB flash drive, and that drive fails for any reason, will the "regular" devices (that don't use VPN) lose network?

    What add ons to install

I think perhaps this thread is far enough along that I can add on to the OP's topic, but if this warrants a new thread, I will delete my post here. I dipped my toe into the pool this weekend with getting PushBullet notifications when clients connect to or disconnect from my router's VPN server...

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

Thanks, for the additional post, #13. But I now think it's working fine as I explained in #12. Maybe it's overly complex as I did it, but I did test and the client connects even if the pushbullet script has an error. So I think I'll leave well enough alone since I'm such a noob I can only...

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

    @Maverickcdn OK, I think I misunderstood what you were suggesting. I went back and did in my server configuration: client-connect /jffs/scripts/vpnconnect.sh client-disconnect /jffs/scripts/vpnconnect.sh Then inside vpnconnect.sh: #!/bin/sh /jffs/scripts/notifyme.sh & Then inside notifyme.sh...

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

@Maverickcdn Interesting thought. I tried it out, but couldn't get OpenVPN to start. Maybe it's trying to load vpnconnect.sh, but once those are put inside a script, "client-connect" isn't an acceptable Linux command is it? Could it need openvpn client-connect /jffs/scripts/notifyme.sh...

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

So I found something interesting. In tweaking my Pushbullet message, I made an error such that the script didn't work. My VPN client was then not able to connect. Does this mean that if anything goes wrong, my VPN clients will fail to connect? For example, if I hit my 100 SMS messages in a...

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

@octopus THANK YOU! I don't know how long it would have taken me to think of putting your code into the vpnsever custom config! And also using the full path. It works! :) MUCH APPRECIATED!

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

So I've been dabbling with this very occasionally over the past few months, but I'm still lost. I have managed to set up WinSCP and I can see the /jffs/scripts folder. I signed up for Pushbullet. I've also looked at the scripts @octopus linked. So do I create a file in /jffs/scripts called...

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3004.388.4 is now available

At the risk of asking a dumb question, I have an Asus ROG Rapture AX11000 but I'm not a gamer. Evidently I have been using the Merlin versions not having "rog" in their names without even realizing. This time, I flashed using the "rog" version and it looks *very* different, though I think it's...

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

@octopus So, being a total noob to jffs and scripts, I have to put your code into a script saved to jffs. Then I need to also find and save the "wan-event' dynamic script, and also save and configure "pushover" as well?

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

I will look into this, thank you!

    Notification on OpenVPN client connection?

Is there any way I could get a push notification to my cell phone or email every time a remote client connects to my OpenVPN server on my router? It looks like they get logged, but I'd like something more immediate.
