    McAfee causes logs to fill

I appreciate the suggestion, but I think this is going to take a certain level of effort that I'm not wanting to spend now. I saw many terms I'm not familiar with like "Entware" and I saw someone posting with DNS issues when Unbound didn't start, etc. I really only went with Merlin for split...

    McAfee causes logs to fill

Ha, I spoke too soon. I dumped out the entire log file and I see there are certain times where the log sports LOTS of the "possible NDS-rebind attack detected" messages. Then it's quiet for a while, then another flurry of such entries. So I guess I was just focusing on the wrong points in the...

    McAfee causes logs to fill

Well, I'm not sure what was happening on my work PC when it was blocking those requests, because it's all a black box to me. My issue was it was logging so much that I couldn't use the log for tracking down any other issues. Now I'm seeing a few of those entries. But it's possible that it was...

    McAfee causes logs to fill

Well, it didn't completely work, but it seems to have greatly reduced the messages. So, thanks again!

    McAfee causes logs to fill

I think you found the solution that lets me keep rebind protection and not get flooded with messages! Thank you!

    McAfee causes logs to fill

Isn't rebind protection useful? I was hoping to leave it on but suppress the messages.

    McAfee causes logs to fill

My work computer is logging 4 or so times per minute something like this: Mar 18 14:05:05 dnsmasq[1692]: possible DNS-rebind attack detected: b-0.19-[redacted].avqs.mcafee.com It's from my work computer so I can't mess with the computer itself, but I've been using it from home for months and I...

    WAN connection drops

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm on Comcast and I was losing WAN every day this week until I tried your suggestion last night. So far, so good!

    RDP over OpenVPN

I appear to be using TAP, which I think is required if I want to also use OpenVPN with Android, right? I'm using 255.255.255.0 on my LAN and OpenVPN.

    RDP over OpenVPN

So I tried turning off both BitDefender Firewall and Windows Firewall and nothing changed. I could still get to the old PC and not the new one. So just for the fun of it, I turned off the old PC and changed my DHCP reservations so that the new PC has the IP address of the old PC. And voila...

    RDP over OpenVPN

So I reconnected my old desktop PC (the one I had connected to for years over the VPN) and I am able to connect to it just fine over the VPN. It also has BitDefender. So there's clearly something set on my new desktop that is blocking my connection attempts over RDP.

    RDP over OpenVPN

Sorry, I had these failures over Christmas when I was away from home and trying to RDP in to my desktop, as I said. I have since switched to BitDefender and found that I'm having the same problems as with Norton. I suppose I should have tested again when I had removed Norton and before I...

    RDP over OpenVPN

Merline 384.19 on Asus RT-AC5300. Using Norton AV. On MSTSC, I'm specifying the IP address 192.168.29.111, but the laptop is coming in on 10.8.0.3.

    RDP over OpenVPN

I'm clearly getting dumber as I get older. A few years ago, on my previous Asus Router with Merlin FW, when traveling, I was able to connect my Windows laptop via Open VPN and then RDP (MSTSC) to my desktop computer. Now, on my new Asus router, I cannot get RDP to connect to my desktop. I...

    AC-5300 stopped answering DNS queries?

Seems now to work with these settings!

    AC-5300 stopped answering DNS queries?

Well, I'm running 384.19 now and still my DNS isn't working Server: RT-AC5300-D6A0.homelan Address: 192.168.18.61 DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. DNS request timed out. timeout was 2 seconds. *** Request to RT-AC5300-D6A0.homelan timed-out Ah, I missed one thing. I...

    AC-5300 stopped answering DNS queries?

So should I just flash with the latest Merlin firmware? Can I reload my previous 384.14_2 settings after?

    AC-5300 stopped answering DNS queries?

I hadn't turned on any DoT or changed any settings in months.

    AC-5300 stopped answering DNS queries?

Interesting. Are you with Comcast by any chance? I should mention that I started seeing oddities earlier this week with my security app sometimes not loading unless I turned off wifi, Amazon Prime taking 1-2 minutes to load rather than 15 seconds, some web sites taking a long time to load...

    AC-5300 stopped answering DNS queries?

Merlin 384.14_2 has been running without issue for months. This morning, the family reported the internet was broken (except for a device running OpenVPN client through the router which was functional). When I did "nslookup" I got nothing but time-outs. I had been running WAN DNS1 at...
