    Do you use reboot schedular

RT-AX86U - I wasn't aware of an automatic reboot capability. I might set it up. I haven't determined the frequency of reboots yet. I have the occasional problem where the WAN (Internet) connection goes out. Everything looks OK but no internet. An occasional reboot might fix that IF it's a router...

RT-AC86U vs RT-AX86S The difference except WiFi6 and half the Price?

If you can afford it then buy the RT-AX86U. It will future proof you for a few years. The RT-AC86U is already older technology. I bought the AX86U and retired the AC86U. I keep it up to date as a backup.

Issues with post 3.0.0.4.386.43129 versions (RT-AC68U)

Upgrade again, factory reset, and then MANUALLY enter the configuration. Do not re-use any saved configuration files. Google ASUS web site for how to factory reset your router.

RT-AC86U - FW 386.3_2 Wifi connected devices not showing up in connected devices list

Yes it is. I've had an RT-AC68U, an RT-AC86U, and an RT-AX86U and it has shown up in all of them using ASUS official firmware. I've also had it show up in the AX86U Merlin. It's an odd bug. Some devices always show up and other never show up and there are some that drift in and out. I don't...

How do you keep your ASUS Router cool ?

I always like to mount my modems and routers vertical with the cooling slots at the top and bottom so natural convection promotes airflow thru the device. I have one modem WiFi router that now only gets used as a VoIP ATA and it has lasted for more than 8 years. I attribute that long life to it...

Asus DSL Router - Confusing Terms\Options

I sometimes have similar problems. Some of those settings seem a bit weird. I usually do a Google to see if I can get more info. This is not always successful. ASUS could do a lot more to clarify the router settings. However, it seems that the current methodology for equipment suppliers is...

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

The speed of my fibre connection has a potential of up to 1Gbps but unfortunately I can't afford more than 50Mbps. I would like more but I am many years retired and there are higher priority items. Is there a router advantage to using that port in my circumstances?

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

I had another attempt at loading up the 45898 firmware today. It was successful. I still loaded 45898 then did a factory reset and reboot but this time I did it all with the WAN cable disconnected until I was about to login to complete the factory reset. I found some comments on the ISP web...

Why bother with Pihole and other ad blocking hardware/apps?

I use Microsoft Edge which uses the Chrome engine, for my browser. My router has no blocking at the moment. I routinely block ads and third party cookies in the browser settings and a lot of other things including Popups. My Android phone cops a load of ads but I only use for phone calls and not...

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

It took me a bit of searching to find DNS Filter and when I got there I realised that it has never been on in any release applied to my router. However, while I was searching I noticed that IPv6 was off. From my records, I note that I turned it on several releases back in August (I have no...

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

PPPoE has been obsoleted in much of the Australian internet connections. There is no requirement to login anymore. I believe that the connections are made with Permanent Virtual Circuits in the backbone network. IPTV settings are not used. I did a factory reset when going to the new (45898)...

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

I talked to the ISP helpdesk. They tried things like resetting ports etc. and we did not succeed in getting firmware 45898 to communicate. The light on the ONT showing data from the router was flashing as was the data light from the internet but no communications. Unless anyone else has good...

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

new The ISP is Aussie Broadband . The connection type is NBN FTTP (Fibre to the Premises). The router is connected to the ONT by ethernet to the 1Gbps WAN port on the router (not the 2.5G port). The router start up wizard has defined the WAN connection Type = Automatic IP. Checking the support...

    Release RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386_45898 (2021-10-07)

I have an RT-AX86U at 3.0.0.4.386_45375. I tried to update it last week to 45898 and while it appeared to load OK it wouldn't communicate to the internet citing DNS problems. I didn't have time to deal with it at the time so a went back to 45375 and it loaded up and worked immediately. I had...

    STA-to-STA OFDMA issue?

I have an ASUS RT-AX86U running ASUS (not Merlin) firmware. I have a number of AC clients and one WiFi 6e client (Intel AX210). Even though I have a 6e client my router is only WiFi 6 so 6e does not get a go. My mainboard (MSI Z590 etc.) just happened to have 2.5Gbps ethernet and the AX210 as...

Icons on ASUS Router web page

That Ting might be a good thing to get rid of. If you have an electrical surge that kills a few gadgets then your insurance may use that to avoid a payout.

Icons on ASUS Router web page

Did those icons survive a reboot or power cycle? That list of attached devices is a bit weird. Mine frequently shows devices that haven't been powered on for days. They also return after a Refresh. It also shows phantom devices that don't return after a reboot. This is on both ASUS and Merlin FW.

Enable Guest WiFi once, 2-3 days no Internet every again

It sounds like one of your wifi clients is causing the problem. Proving which one might be difficult. You may have to isolate them (switch off) one by one from your network. Don't discount the possibility that more than one device could be causing the problem. Good luck.
