Edge Router with UniFi AP not giving internet access to Windows Computers

try the edgerouter support forum at https://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX/bd-p/EdgeMAX. You will probably have to post your configuration to get any help with your problem. It could also be a problem with your unfi configuration

    Entropy Pool

There's this: http://ubld.it/products/truerng-hardware-random-number-generator/ No experience with it, but it got a good review on one of the hardware hacker sites earlier this week

    Opinions on EdgeRouter X?

I switched from an ASUS AC66 to the ER-X a while ago. I've been very happy with it. I have a FIOS 50/50 connection which is actually provisioned at 55/55. I use the smart QoS set to 50/50 and I get 49/49 on the DSL Reports speed test with bufferbloat of A running the test from my laptop over...

Problem with ipv6 not working for clients

without lots more data (routing tables, traceroutes, etc) there's no way to know. anyway its comcast /shrug After I wrote the other reply, I saw your other question, why a separate prefix for delegation? I don't know the answer, and never really thought about it before, but now I'm curious. I...

Problem with ipv6 not working for clients

comcast uses "prefix delegation" for its customers. They supply a separate prefix to your router via DHCPv6 and your router passes out addresses with that prefix out to your clients using "stateless auto-configuration" (SLAAC) or optionally, DHCPv6. If you like this sort of thing and want to...

REQUESTING HELP PLEASE: Use of uQMI Protocol on ASUSWRT-MERLIN

freezing during the gpu test leads me to think that the firmware (the gpu code in the dos partition) isn't right for your board. Maybe for pi2? You can mount the filesystem on your pc and compare the sizes of the firmware files between your openwrt sdcard and your noobs sdcard. if they aren't...

    Fastest wired through-put Router

Since none of the regulars have responded, I'll give you my $.02: A few months ago I demoted my AC66U running Merlin to use as just an AP, and bought a ER-X to use as a router/firewall. The ER-X SW has support for HW acceleration of IPSEC, routing and NAT and on a 50Mb/s FIOS connection my...

@kvic, Where did you find the MediaTek SDK?

    ER-X: small is beautiful

If you don't want to exit config mode, you can type 'up' to go out one node, or 'top' to go all the way out to the root

    ER-X: small is beautiful

I believe the CLI is modeled after the JUNOS CLI. Its not a lot like the Cisco CLI, but if you can you use the Cisco CLI you will pick up the VyOS one in a few minutes.

    ER-X: small is beautiful

I bought an ER-X based on the rave reviews here and I'm really happy with it. It took over all the stuff I was doing on my ASUS AC-66 running a version of Merlin's code that I hacked up and is now running a real Merlin build in dumb AP mode. I'd be very interested in seeing more info on...

    Best choice for access point?

Yes, but... the downside to the unifi is you need the unifi controller running on a computer somewhere on your network for some of the advanced features of the unifi to work. For use as a basic AP you can run the unifi controller to setup your APs and then stop it until you want to modify your...

    Configuring IPv6 neighbor

Apparently your ISP doesn't support Prefix Delegation, so you need to run a Neighbor Discovery Proxy (NDP is one, there are others). I can't log into my ASUS router right now to check, but I haven't run across that function in the Merlin software that I can recall, but I've never needed it...

Please help me set up a set up a cron job to auto update my IP

    Using ipset revisited

wget will look for certs in the directory pointed at by the SSL_CERT_DIR env variable. I use the little snippet below to make wget work with ssl in my scripts # Define path to certs so HTTPS works in wget # Certificates are installed using 'opkg install ca-certificates' export...

Please help me set up a set up a cron job to auto update my IP

you got most of the way there on your own! the line in the script should be cru a checkdns 0 * * * * "wget https://borderlessinternet.com/updateip?remote=MyID" You will either need to add the root certs to your router or use --no-check-certificate on your wget command

Best way to do DDNS updates when behind another (DSL) router?

Good question! The "cru a dnsupdate 0 * * * * /jffs/scripts/dns-update-ip.sh" command goes in your /jffs/scripts/services-start script so that it gets added to cron every time the router is booted. It might be the only command in that file.

Best way to do DDNS updates when behind another (DSL) router?

This script is for Google DNS. Most of them are similar. Change the Google URL to the URL for your DDNS service. It also assumes you have entware (or entware-ng) installed for the root certs so SSL works. If you don't have the root certs installed and don't want to, you can add...
