ASUS ROG AC 5300 - SLOW LAN

Dont know where to start. But to summarize: The LAN part (switch) of the router does work fine - I am able to get full speed on LAN with my NAS (950 mbps). It is a simple thing so for it not to work is unlikely. Avoid using Link Aggegration - You seem to misunderstand how it works and it may...

    Chromecast dont work, help please.

Sorry no. On RT-AC5300 it is not enabled by default causing Chromecast issues. On GT-AC5300 it is enabled by default and I never had any issues with Chromecast on this router.

    ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 (Owners)

I assume you have a RT-AC5300 not GT-AC5300. Anyway the 2-way IPS will is a part of the 382 firmware that all Asus routers are getting. Also the GT-AC5300.

    ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 (Owners)

No. Look at Tims review. It is much faster though (processor speed). It even boots more than twice as fast.

asus rt-ac5300 wifi range worse than my old 100$ router ??

It has nothing to do with it. This is the forum for SNB - A site known for thorough and professional testing of network equipment. You are making a simple conclusion that goes against this site's testing and the experience of many of its users and expect to be met with uncritical accept of your...

Do you guys use Firewall ?

You are welcome. I understand you completely but resources in a high-end modern router is not so scarce that basic security must be disabled. Not on a computer either. This also goes for AIProtection. Unless you have a 1gbit connection there is no difference. These advanced features like QoS...

Do you guys use Firewall ?

Why would you disable a firewalls? It makes no sense. Yes a NAT may deal with most attacks but some it does not and why take that risk? Please read this (and enable all your firewalls): https://f5.com/resources/white-papers/the-myth-of-network-address-translation-as-security And AIProtection...

    RT-AC5300 lack of updates

ROG means Really Obnoxious GUI. It differs so much from the normal AsusWRT GUI so updates will always be lacking. This is their most expensive consumer router so in that sense it is a flagship. But like the RT-AC5300 it is left in the dark when it comes to updates. And the GT-AC5300 really needs...

I want to build an AiMesh

Nobody needs the gaming stuff they added to GT-AC5300. It is just stupid and actually makes me not want to buy it. It makes it much more difficult for them to update it with all the GUI changes and idiotic renaming of common features into gaming lingo. They are already showing us that they...

    ASUS RT-AC86U vS RT-AC88U

That is a lot of questions. You can find out much of this yourself by doing research (like charts on this site). Dont "think" flagship. Think of each router and what it does. Both RT-AC88U are excellent routers but the RT-AC86U is newer and fastere for QoS and VPN and using USB drives. Are you...

    Asus Flagship?

How do you feel about the GT-AC5300? Is it a dead end with all its flashy unnecessary modifications to AsusWRT (and I assume that is why you will not support it)?

    Chromecast dont work, help please.

Go to Wireless>Professional For EACH Band (2.4GHz, 5GHz-1 and 5GHz-2) make sure to enable IGMP Snooping. Does it work?
  13. T

    Asus Flagship?

It is a good question. Their flagship should be GT-AC5300 but they ruined with all their "cool" gamer stuff. It requires so many GUI changes to AsusWRT that it is just a waste. And RMerlin is not supporting either. If I had to choose a new router the GT-AC5300 would have been obvious since it...

    Asus Flagship?

    In what way? CPU-wise: Yes.

    ASUS RT-AC86U vS RT-AC88U

The RT-AC86U is much better with QoS, VPN and AIProtection. Especially VPN due to hardware accelerated IPSEC (Crypto). But according to Tim's new review the CTF of RT-AC86U has little impact meaning that all these features seems run much faster.

[Official Beta] AiMesh beta firmware for RT-AC68U/RT-AC86U/RT-AC5300/RT-AC88U

This all looks very good but one thing is missing from a dedicated mesh/wifi system or even distributed AP's like Unifi: Guest networking. It only works on the main router. The hardware is there and could support it (VLAN) and even Apple supported it with their extenders but sadly not here. We...

    [RT-AC5300] Expected wireless throughput?

Well that seems fine then. The router is likely not the culprit then.

    [RT-AC5300] Expected wireless throughput?

Have you checked other devices? On my phone I get 300+Mbps (connection maxed out) on speedtest with this router.

    [RT-AC5300] Expected wireless throughput?

If your laptop only has 1x1 wifi then this expected. Unfortunately. I experience about 3 or 2 times your max speed 5g-2 when using either 3x3 or 2x2 clients. The performance of the router cannot fix a slow client.
