Asus RT-AX88 vs Asus RT-AC86+switch? And if AC86, which Switch? I got an Asus RT-AX88!

So I basically do not need the performance of the AX88, but I do need the extra Ethernet ports. Currently I have a AC88, which seems to fail port 5-8 from time to time - I have not found a solution on that. So either I go AX88, or I go AC86 plus a switch. Any thoughts on what route to choose...

    RT-AC88U, 4 ports not working

Is there any way to reset the extra switch within the AC88 for ports 5-8? After all, if one restarts the AC88 router all ports start to work - so just reset of that extra switch might work if there is a way to do this? Would save me from upgrading to AX88 or AC86+external switch...

    [Asus RT-AX88U] Experiences & Discussion

I have a AC88, and I am thinking about the AX88 - however, one thing I do need is all 8 ethernet ports working. The AC88 has problems with port 5-6-7-8, they seem to disconnect from time to time - without any reason. I have been having it like that for well since I got my AC88. And it is a...

Dual WAN Connected to Secondary WAN but Offline [Solved] [Faulty Dongle]

FWIW: a couple of weeks ago someone decided to upgrade my fiber connection, however the SFP in my fiber converter decided to fail at the same time, so I lost internet connection. First I got a USB stick and SIM card, 4G to be more precise, and I never got it working at all. I think it is only a...

[Request for comment] Addition of sqlite3 client for script authors

Will this replace Entware, then I am for this. However if all tools under AMTM still requires Entware I see no use for this. In my mind it is more a question like either Entware or sqlite3...?

RT-AC88U loses WAN and LAN access, only WiFi still remains until physical replugging of ports?

For testing purpose, and verify a known thing with the LAN port 5-8, could you remove link aggregation to free up one LAN port and then connect all devices on LAN port 1-4. Any difference? I have problems of all kinds if I use port 5-8 on my AC88 (which more or less makes the AC88 useless if one...

scMerlin scMerlin - service and script control menu for AsusWRT-Merlin

Or a script kind of thing that enables amtm and your script to be run inside web gui, like a very smal and basic text terminal in a tab inside the asus-rmerlin web gui?

    Presence-detection with N66U / AC68U for homeautomation

Does the AC3200, with three radios (1*2.4GHz and 2*5GHz) have the same style like $(nvram get wl2_ifname)? Do you know?

    Presence-detection with N66U / AC68U for homeautomation

My own script for detection by looking into what MAC adresses are connected to the router, might need minor updates, and adaption to what ever you might use (I have Virtual Devices in my HomeSeer 3 installation): #!/bin/sh # # Mac Adress to keep track of.... # Mac1 = person one, Mac2 = person...

[Release] Asuswrt-Merlin 384.9 is now available

For what it is worth and all that: My Boom (and Radio/Touch) connects just fine over my RT-AC88U, however I do only use 2.4 for my Squeezeboxes.

Power consumption for a AC88 router

This is some simplified data if anyone is interesting in excel or something: Server ASUS RT-AC88U Value Duration Value Duration 6,00 05:03:57 15,50 09:15:04 6,10 04:53:10 15,40...

Power consumption for a AC88 router

My Intel NUC8i3BEH is one ethernet port only - yes. I only use 4 of the ethernet ports on my AC88 (workstation, NUC server, printer and LMS Squeezebox Touch) so yes there might be traffic going on since i stream radio over to my SB Touch box all the time I am home. I had a look at the AC86...

Power consumption for a AC88 router

Sorry that makes it even worse I think. Let's start over with comparing my server vs AC88 power consumption: AC88 Router power consumption: Min 8.8W Max 31.4W Average 15.4W Intel NUC8i3BEH server power consumption: Min 5.4W Max 38.6 Average 6.1 Now, from the graphs we can of course see that...

Power consumption for a AC88 router

Yes of course, however most of the time when no one is home and the router should have close to nothing to do (idle) it still consumes way more. Here is the chart of power consumption for the NUC server: EDIT: Changed to the same time fram so it makes a bit more "power" :)

Power consumption for a AC88 router

As a comparison I have a Intel NUC8i3BEH with a Samsung M2 NVMe 512GB SSD plus a 2TB Samsung 840 SSD - this smal server (it is the HomeSeer HS3 server with Logitech Media Squeezebox Server and a few other bits and binaries) only consumes about 6 W. And the fiber to ethernet converter (ISP is...

Power consumption for a AC88 router

I have a HomeSeer HS3 home automation controller in my home for controlling all lamps and media system. Just for fun I decided to put a Fibaro Wall Plug before the powersupply to my ASUS AC88 router, and just for the power consumption measure. Now this might not be 100% perfect way to do this...

amtm amtm - the Asuswrt-Merlin Terminal Menu

Would it not be a good idea to more or less automate that kind of proposal into a script run from AMTM?

    blocking youtube

I guess you could write some firewall rules and block IP's that belongs to Youtube? I did a fast google search, and found this site that lists the most common IP's related to Youtube: https://www.lifewire.com/ip-address-of-youtube-818157 Now add all them to the GUI firewall "Network Services...
